aluminium is lighter, softer and more expensive, steel is harder and heavier and cheaper.

Aluminum transfers heat better than steel.

Does one deal with heat better than the other?

Aluminum transfers heat better than steel.

Very true but unless we are talking about a fanless setup the amout of heat lost via conduction vs the amout shifted by case/cpu/gpu fans must be miniscule. Infact even in a fanless setup i would doubt it would account for even a 1 degree difference in temps comparing steel to aluminium

The reason I use Aluminum is not for heat - but for system weight. I use a full tower under the desk, and I move it in and out now and then. The Aluminum case is much easier to do that with. My other "floortop" is steel, and that is much more difficult. And, I do not disagree with Puppies at all - aluminum is simply "cooler" in the teen idiom sense.

$9~$15 and you are good to go with any case.

Nope! That will not work at all - the side door can't be opened and closed in such a carrier. I made my own - a wooden box with 4 casters.

Or, just mount wheels on the case bottom.
