I don't really think that any of us are "geeks." Really all this computer building and overclocking is merely and hobby or for some a skill they excel at. For me no one at my old high schoo or college could prob say that I was a geek, becasue I played the violin, viola, swam competively for 13yrs, wrestled 2yrs and was city champion twice. I mean so really computers take up alot of my time because I love them, but does that really make me a geek? Seriuosly think about all those people who fix up cars and make that their life, I guess you could say that they are car GEEKS? Oh well as long as you are all comfortable with yourselves, it really doesn't matter.

Well, being a "geek" certainly isn't a bad thing anymore. Perhaps being a Greek might be slightly worse now (like frats, not the country, DORK!)

Being a geek is like being an "otaku" in Japanese. While it carries negative connections, some American anime otaku's use it as a badge of pride on how obsessed they are with anime.

It's all based on how each individual interprets it. Some are annoyed by being called a geek, others are praised. I tend to use it as a derrogative term, but no so serious as being a pimply faced nerd.

If someone wants to call me a girl, so be it. Do I consider myself a geek? Hmm, I don't really care . . .

Most of the people here are probably not geeks by definition.. we're more like Technophiles.. I like that term better anyway.. it fits because I'm not nerdy but I do use the computer a lot (like everyone else on this planet) and I'm obsessed with any new technology as well as cars.. yeah I think Technophile is a better way to describe me at least.. then again I've always called myself a computer nerd because essentially I am always having fun just doing things by my computer and I don't do a whole lot else other than that

Well.. depends .. I think you can be a computer "geek" and still be very popular. Intelligence doesn't = geek. I generally think of myself as a "geek" in regards to computers or comic book collecting.. but you would never know unless I told you. Who are the guys driving expensive sports cars with good jobs? Answer: The Talented, the lucky, or the intelligent. If you don't fall into one of those categories your a "no body" in the worlds eyes. So those of you that are considering yourselves to be geeks just because you are intelligent and are fascinated by computers.. dont. I generally think of Geek as a negative thing.. except when in direct relation to computers.. then I suppose it's o.k.

I do spend a lot of money on PC upgrades. I just like to play with/tweak the latest hardware. I would also rather use a computer then stare mindlessly at the TV. I also enjoy listening to music/the radio but I can do this while using the computer

I would never put my hobby before my friends and going out socialising. Its just something I like to do when I am at home and have nothing planned, or when I am bored at work I come here!
