I got mine on Black Friday. After a few weeks of use I have boiled it down to an expensive, non-portable bluetooth speaker, that can handle a handful of voice commands. I will say that the microphone sensitivity and understanding is pretty good, as is its sound quality. What will really make this thing awesome though is Amazon opening up a developer API.

Anyone else get one?
Did you name it "computer"?

Have yet to get the invite. Been a prime member for years. Signed up the first day it was available. I was going to use it as an alarm clock and music player for me room.

Been fairly positive reviews so far.

Oh look another way for a big company to record your daily routine and buying habits, likes and dislikes and anything else it feels like recording.

Sign me up for at least none.

Really? I registered right away (just because) and received my invitation back around Thanksgiving. Is it possible that you missed it?

I don't see using it often enough to warrant it but in the future if it is integrated into the entire house then it would be useful. Right now I have my brick... err phone... in my pants pocket but there's always instances where I have to go fetch it to look something up.

If it could also project videos (ie. news, etc.) on walls of any room I'm in, that would be the future we see in the movies. And of course voice recognition and relevancy still needs work right now.

I guess I could have missed it. I know for sure that I won't be spending 199 on one. I think the echo is only worth $99.

I received my invite today as well. I also asked a friend with Prime to put in an invite. At $100 I'll probably grab one for the novelty value.

Question - if I wanted to travel with this, would it be able to connect to hotel wifi systems that aren't password protected (have a login page)? I'm guessing no.

Looks like it can pair with your phone to access data?

I had a chance to play around with one of these last night at a friends house.

Two things stuck out to m:.

1) The sound quality is pretty bad, at least compared to a Sonos Play 1.

2) The voice recognition works OK, but not great.

It still seems like a beta product to me.
