Amazon free shipping

Just a note to relate my experience with Amazon free shipping. In past years the free shipping offers were free UPS ground. Now they ship via USPS. They claim that there is a wait time of around 5 days extra before it is shipped. On August 26, I ordered a Panasonic DVD player which they advertised as a sale. It said "Usually ships in 1 to 2 weeks". I chose the free shipping. Shipping date was supposed to be around Sept 2. When that date passed I called them (very difficult to find the phone number). They said that they had two in the warehouse and that one of them was for me. When it still didn't ship I e-mailed customer service. This was their response

Thursday Sept 12:
"I've checked your order, and found that the shipping method selected
for your order is our free Super Saver Shipping option. This option
is for customers who are willing to wait a little longer to receive
their items in exchange for free shipping.

As stated on our web site, when you choose Super Saver Shipping, you
can expect your order to take 3 to 5 days longer to leave our
fulfillment center than if you had selected our standard shipping
option. This additional time allows us to ship your order in the
most cost-efficient way possible, and enables us to pass the savings,
in the form of free shipping, on to you."


The DVD player still hasn't shipped. At this point I would recommend that if you order from Amazon.com that you choose to pay for shipping rather than go through the grief. If and when the DVD player does ship, I will still have to deal with the USPS less than stellar reliability.

first of all, this should not be posted as a thread.

they don't always ship it usps if you qualify for free shipping.
sometimes they use ups as well.
it all depends on their source of merchandises.
at least, most of my shipments come in ups.

Ive ordered alot from Amazon I try to always get the free shipping when possible and have never had any probs. I typically get my stuff within a week of when I order it. But when it says "Usually ships in 1 to 2 weeks" that means its out of stock and you honestly never know when your gonna get it.

Ordered from amazon quite a lot of times here as well. Came promptly using UPS. I know Amazon has a tendency to push their estimated date like Dell does, for an emergency

Just got a package from amazon, free shipping with UPS.

But I made three trips to the UPS service center to pick up my package....so rather have USPS since it is closer.

yeah, they're trying to hose me on an order right now too.

i got the exact same email as you, but i didn't order anything
that was '1-2 weeks'...i even wrote them back with my
confirmation email where it stated all things were in
stock and ready to ship w/in 2-3 days...what did they do?
they just sent my the same damn email back...:|

oh well, like said - you get what you pay for, and at least
it's free...

Free shipping, note FREE SHIPPING. Geez your never going to see that free overnight shipping like from outpost.com ever again. You get what you pay for. If you really need the item then why the hell would you choose it. It even says 5-9 business days. That's a lot of time to me.

When you see this, it means the item is currently OOS but Amazon will re-order the item or Amazon usually restock the item regularly. I thought the availability status has clearly told you when you will receive your order.
