YAAT (Yet Another Amazon Thread)

Ordered some stuff on Sunday, haven't even gotten an E-mail yet that's it's been shipped. In my account the status is still waiting to be shipped. Is this a ploy to try to get you to sign up and pay for Prime? Something I don't need since I don't buy enough on Amazon.

I feel like canceling the fucking order and trying to find the shit on ebay or somewhere else.

What was the promised delivery window for the shipping method you selected?

Shipping today, arriving tomorrow???

Yes that is how Amazon operates now. They know exactly how long it takes to get an item to you via UPS. If you don't have prime, the delivery timeframe is larger and they will aim for the actual date that shows on the order.

Nothing really wrong with it since they do show almost as soon as you place the order how long it will take to arrive. They used to always arrive early, but they now changed it.

I do believe it is a ploy to get prime memberships up. That's the new operating model for retail. I expect more companies to follow suite.

Funny how that works isn't it? We drove these market changes by demanding low prices to the point where the business model has shifted from making a profit from every sale to only making a profit on memberships.

In the end, this will hurt the consumers, and small retailers who can't operate on a subscriber model. We will have an oligopoly of a few retailers and less competition in the future.

Which is why everybody hates Costco, amirite?

Yeah, my card hasn't even been charged yet. Not sure if I can get the items somewhere else. It's for my cousin who's having a baby.

Maybe just call them because it's not acceptable.

Tell them to hold it in, Amazon is taking their time.

Or you could not jump the gun and see if it's actually here on time.

They do this on a compressed timeframe with Prime items too. Wait...wait...then bam, load it up and they 'know' it will only take a day to get here.

Depends on warehouse locations, and don't forget, they have their own deals with carriers. You think they pay USPS, FedEx, or UPS the same amount we do?

I am literally in the exact same situation. I ordered an item on Sunday and it hasn't shipped yet. I should have paid for two day shipping. would have just been $5.

Still says it is arriving on Monday, which is within the window. So the only thing I can rightfully complain about is my own impatience.

Used the shit out of Prime this week. One more delivery tomorrow, and another on Saturday. The UPS guy probably hates me. :awe:

I just got an E-mail saying this would arrive on Saturday. Which is funny because when I checked my account it said this would arrive Friday. So I'm sure by the time this is all set and done it will arrive next Wednesday.

You'd think that once it got in the hands of USPS/UPS/FedEx/Purolator that the end date would be known, or at least far more certain. I don't understand shipping companies.

but then again, from what I understand shipping companies actually sell off delivery routes via private contracts, so your delivery guys are not true-blue "employees" of the company. Weird. my point is that i have no idea what is what and just getting the package satiates me, even though I want it immediately and am an impatient bastard.

Just complain it arrived a day later than expected and get a free month of prime.
Oh wait, you're a non-prime peasant.
