I don't care what anyone says but no one will ever beat the speed of Amazon Prime shipping.

Like 1 and 2 hour Amazon Now delivery.

Before they tried forcing everyone to Prime, my orders always shipped the same day I placed them, and always arrived in 2 days or less. Now that they are trying to force Prime on everyone, they usually don't ship my orders for 5 to 7 days.

I won't join Prime just to get the same service I used to get for free. Even Newegg always gets my orders to me in 2 days, and I didn't have to buy a "membership".

That definitely wasn't my experience with the free super saver shipping, even before Prime was a thing.

I'm sure a lot of those same-day services are nice for people who live in their zones, but Prime's value just keeps going down as they raise prices. I'll probably cancel when it's up for renewal.

Well, my new bike helmet did not come in..."out for delivery" and the post man has already gone by. So much for 2 day. Now I have to dig the old one out of the trash and try and rig the tension-er if I want to ride in the AM.

Prime-free buyers: I think you get snappier turnaround on your order if it includes a "fulfilled by Amazon" item from a 3rd-party seller. Likely because a 3rd-party's reputation is at stake. Not saying it'll show up in 2 days, but maybe 4, rather than sitting on your order for 5-6 days before shipping it overnight - as is their wont.

I see that Amazon doesn't offer unlimited file storage with Prime anymore, but they do offer unlimited photo storage.

Has anyone found a cool way to convert their 50 TB of data files into .jpeg's to get around this limitation?
Why certainly. I extract every frame from my movies and upload it as a separate .jpg.

We will keep our Prime membership, but I wonder if there will be a class action lawsuit against the price increase. I understand Amazon isn't obligated to offer the $99 price forever, but people file lawsuits for almost any reason these days. Based on most comments I have seen, I predict the churn rate will be about 80-90% despite Amazon's predictions.

You have to wonder how many folks are accidental Prime members. The ones who said "yes" to 2-day shipping, and thus accidentally enrolled in Prime. Hopefully they catch on quick.

Also I wonder how many folks accidentally subscribe to automatic consumables delivery - seeing as how "subscribe" is the default selection on the product listing page.

Prime makes no sense for me personally.

I really need to look into the whole "Household" sharing of prime benefits. It's just occurring to me that this is a benefit. I'm pretty sure my mother has prime too, might as well just leach off her

Note that certain benefits for additional Household members are restricted. For example, the additional member does not have free access to Prime Music.

Amazon gets people to give them money for providing a service others do for free. Only Goop is better at conning people.

PS: Do they still require a credit card to signup for Prime?

I am surprised that others haven't mention if they use the many benefits. The 2 day shipping alone
wouldn't get me to use Prime.

I also use the
1) Streaming Video
2) Streaming music
3) Get a free book a month to keep - It's called Kindle First,
4) Free books to borrow from the Lending Library: (one a month I think)

5) Free audiobooks with audible channel
http://www.audible.com/channels
6) I also have the Chase?Amazon Visa card where i get 5% back when i buy from Amazon (not the 3rd
party sellers)

These are things I use and there's other stuff I don't
https://www.cnet.com/how-to/amazon-prime-20-benefits-every-member-gets/

To tell you the truth, since December they have screwed up a few orders (two that were lost, one
was a birthday present for a family member that was a few days late.),
three more that were flat-out late. Two-day hasn't been working well for me.
and i have called up to show my displeasure with them.

While I don't agree with the 20% increase and think they are greedy and Bezos already makes too much, I do use it enough to justify it at an additional $1.67 a month. I recently ordered a 7'x10' storage shed with free prime freight shipping that would have normally cost me $200. I place 1 to 2 orders a week after checking for best price. I also found a Amazon Fire Stick at a hotel and was able to reset it and add it to my account.

I've got the card as well, but I don't use any of those other benefits. I wish I could pay a reduced rate and just get the shipping.

I balked at Prime at the last increase, I think it was from $79 to $99. So I'm still not Prime. Now that they are bumping it again I'll be even less inclined although I'm always tempted. Still, no overriding reason to pay it out. Do they have a family sharing thing? I don't live with my sister but I think she has it.

I always wait until I have $25 worth of stuff in my cart before I buy, save a bunch of stuff in my cart for "later," so I have stuff to pick from... stuff I don't need real soon, but someday.

I did a 30 day trial free once, the video seemed sharp although I only used it one day to watch one video. I'd buy a lot more if I had free shipping but to pay $119 a year for that?

Gonna cancel when my renew comes up. Probably for the best since I don't need the junk I'm buying now plus all amazon does now is price match other companies that have sales. I can see myself doing walmart's free pickup in the future.
Walmart has free shipping on some stuff. I've gotten it a number of times.
I'll still be a subscriber but it's sure a bunch of shit considering how insanely successful the company has been.
Remember in the early years, for a long time they lost money... every year. It was a long time before they turned a profit at all.

Yes Honey is great. Sometimes it finds an alternate seller that doesn't require tax and keeps Prime shipping.
I still haven't used Honey. It doesn't run on Pale Moon and I haven't finished my conversion back to Firefox. I'm doing that to get Honey... well, I also discovered (I think) that Firefox is the reason I'm getting nasty stuttering in Youtube videos. They are smooth as silk in Edge, probably OK in Firefox, not sure.

Once the lady finishes doctorate and we don't get the 49 dollar prime I'm out. Who even needs amazon anymore? I've noticed lately there are so many sites to buy from I rarely even use amazon anymore. A few years ago I was racking up big bills there, but not much the last 2. Amazon.com could be gone in a few years and just a cloud service provider. They'd probably make just as much money.
So, how do you find that stuff, those sites? Just Google searches? www.pricegrabber.com? How do you search for the best deals online? Ebay? I've found that for many things Amazon's prices beat the best I can find on Ebay.

Why are people bitching?

That's $119 a YEAR. It's like $10 a month. I guess it depends on how much you shop on Amazon. I shop a Amazon a ton. $119 is still worth it to me.

Damn, it would make me dizzy just keeping up the the laundry list of "benefits." It's the shipping that keeps me sniffing at it, but I won't bite goddammit.

Thanks for the warning. It does not look good for keeping Prime. The wife had a problem justifying $99/year ... when I told her they were jacking it to $129 she mentioned going back to filling the cart to $35 to get free (but not 2-day) shipping. Looks like I am going be saving some more money ...
Last I checked it was back down to $25 for free "super saver" shipping. They have bounced that around several times in the last few years. Think it was as high as $45? I can't remember ever paying for shipping at Amazon, doubt I ever have.

My cart is a jumble, I always seem to have something(s) in it. But I haven't pulled the trigger on an Amazon order since Feb., IIRC. I keep finding other sources, mostly Ebay.
Did not know this, but apparently you can now get packages delivered into the trunk of your car in certain cities. What could possibly go wrong? Anyone done it?

http://money.cnn.com/video/technolo...age-in-car-delivery-trunk.cnnmoney/index.html
I saw the story on TV news. You need a late model car, earliest 2015 IIRC. Have to be subscribed to something. In addition, they are supporting delivery into your house. They pop the door open, drop it inside, close the door. Probably support work locations too. It's especially designed for people who have issues with people stealing your deliveries off your porch, etc.
