Whoa..u've got some great confusion there. I hope you mean T-bred when you said T-bird.
T-bird/Thunderbird was for the later generation of the Athlon non-XPs. T-bred is the latter steppings for Athlon XP chips that has and extra layer or something that makes it run at a lower voltage. I'm just saying this off hand! There are probably a lot more other ATOTers would add
to answer your question directly, Athlon XP > athlon t-birds by a long shot and yes, both could use the same type of m/b but some m/b maybe not support newer T-breds.
