AMD 3200+ Venice
1GB PC3200
160GB SATA
6800
Asus A8n5x

the last system was a barton 2500+, however this system seems slower.
all drivers are installed.
one weird part is cpuz shows 1.1 volts, could that be the cause as maps load slower the na barton with a ti4200.

You OCing? I'm gonna guess no.

And it should be worlds faster than an old Barton 2500+.

"seems slow"? What doese that mean? Want faster map loading? Get the Raptors in Raid dude.

If internet is slow it's your connection. If game loading is slow it's your storage setup. If benchmarks are slow then you didn't set it up right. Either way Venice is a huge improvemnt over your 2500+. I know, cause I have both.

Sounds like cool and quiet is giving you a headache. Try disabling it in the bios and see if it gives you any performance increase.

Is it only maps loading slower that is the problem. Your fps should be much higher and you should be able to run games at far higher detail settings.

Map loading speed is related to your hard drives. Did you install the NVidia IDE driver? A number of people had problems with this driver that went away when they unistalled it and used the default windows IDE drivers instead. To check this you only need to uninstall the NVidia IDE driver from the control panel, the system will automatically rollback to the original one Windows installed.

I have an almost identical setup to yours:
3200+ Venice, A85NX , Evga 6800GS CO SE, Seagate 120GB SATA, 2x512MB DDR400

I'm coming from a socket 754 AMD 64 2800+, 6600GT, ATA-133 HDD, and the same RAM. I've also noticed that this Skt.939 system is slower in regards to basic things like boot up, opening stored files, etc. compared to my old rig. Game performance has definitely increased but I expected there to be an improvement across the board. I'm running the 3200+ @ 2.4GHZ, slight RAM OC, and the 6800 @ 538/1.19. I want to blame my new SATA drive for the slowness but I'd imagine a SATA drive would be faster than an IDE drive.

Read my post above Jason, re. the NVidia IDE drivers that come with the NForce driver package.

I don't believe I installed the IDE driver when I updated my mainboard drivers. At least they aren't showing up in my Add/Remove Programs>Nvidia Drivers list. Thanks though, I could see how that would cause a decrease in performance.

There is the other side to the stick of course and that's that some people get better performance with those drivers installed.

I personally have them installed and they work flawlessy, I just noticed alot of people have problems with them. It just seems to be system specific but you should be getting better tranfer rates with your SATA drive than your old drive.

My boards an NForce 3 board so it's really not relevant to you guys running NForce 4.

For the info though i'm using the latest 5.11 NF3 Nvidia drivers.

I went from a barton 3000+ @ 2.3 ghz on an Abit N7-S2 (nforce2) to a Winchester 3200+ @ 2.45 ghz on a Epox 9nda3+ (nforce3) and I noticed a huge difference in response time, boot time, quicker loading programs, etc.

You've made a much bigger jump than me especially since you aren't overclocking. I'd say it has to be some sort of driver issue, although if you were more specific on exactly what seems to be slower then we might be able to narrow it down a bit.
