While revenge would be sweet, ATI is above doing stuff like that.
Are you honestly that ignorant? Seriously? How many special revisions of DX has ATi had released for them? How about TruForm? When ATi can, they will most certainly try and gain any leverage they can in an instant. As of right now, they can't do it. It is getting close to the point where nV could buy all of AMD outright using cash.
Various APIs and games working on all video cards properly is what would be better for gamers and is what ATI is all about.
Really? Are they going to shore up Linux support soon? How are those OpenCL drivers going? Going to offer reasonable support for OpenGL for pro market apps in the near future?
ATi is very interested in supporting DirectX- step outside of that area and they have a remarkable track record in trailing their counterparts. They support one proprietary API heavily.
If true I hope nVidia and the developer get hit HARD (Especially nVidia since you can be sure they came up with the idea).
The devs are a bit busy swimming in cash atm. It's one of those things where rants by company loyalists get lost in the 'ka ching' of cash registers. If other companies could do the same thing and get the same results, they would in an instant. Idealism doesn't pay the bills or put food on the table.
Even to the point that the government would call them out on performing anti-competitive practices.
nVidia doesn't even hold the plurality of the PC grapihcs market, there isn't a chance that that could happen. It isn't like when ATi teamed up with nV to fix prices, this is something very different.
Exclusitivity contracts in the gaming market are commonplace and always have been. The very small niche market that makes up PC gaming may try and think like it is different, but it really isn't. The big difference here versus in the larger market is that you can play the game on ATi hardware, the larger gaming market that normally wouldn't be allowed(and there are tons of examples here, nV could pay for a game to work exclusively on their hardware and it would absolutely be within legal limitations).
One huge flaw in todays society is corporate/consumer injustice.
How on Earth is it injustice? Even if we assume that every accusation by the loyalists is true, where is the injustice? Have you been denied housing? Food? Medical Care? Have you even been denied the ability to play the game? Realize that the world is full of grown ups making grown up decissions, TWIMTBP isn't new and it isn't going to stop. That is part of the deal you get when you make a choice on what hardware to run. For many years Intel was doing the same thing- and they are legally a monopoly, and yet it was completely legal for them.
More then likely the AA support was an afterthought by the developers and wasn't tested on ATi hardware. It isn't like that testing happens for free, someone needs to be paid to do it. Given the potential sales impact, that isn't likely to happen unless someone puts up the cash to get it done. No matter how you try and spin it, it isn't reasonable to expect nV to pay for validation on ATi hardware just because they did it for their own.
