This is why you should not pretend to know what your talking about when you in actuality don't. This has NOTHING to do with how many cores. I you had 80 cores it wouldn't matter. software virtualization is slow when it has to be emulated because the software virtualization layer does not have direct access to the CPU. THere are lots of memory instructions that they can't send directly to the cpu and have to go through a software layer which is extremly slow. Hardware virtualization will help with this quite a bit. Do i speak from experience definitly. I am a developer and i use both Virutal PC 2004 (daily) and vmware once in awhile. AMD CPU based on AM2 will have it well at least forsure athlon based cpu i not sure about sempron. and like freethrowtommy said its built into prescott 2m and beyond. I have really seen no reviews on it but its sure going to be a welcome addition.
They don't work out of the gate. Both microsoft and vmware had to change their code to use it. I don't know if there was much of a difference between pacifica and vanderpool
