Why don't you try Core temp or Real Temp and see if there is any difference in temps there.

Shoot...getting the correct batch is too much of a lottery for me to try it on my Gigabyte board.
Well if you are near Microcenter I hear they let you pick your cpu

Very cool. It's been awhile since any piece of hardware was truly unlockable. Last ones I can remember were the 6800NUs.

2 hrs OCCT @ 3.2Ghz.
During my testing, the core that always gave out 1st was the 3rd core (Core #2).

The discussion about the whole matter @ Tom's is pretty funny.

So there's just one confirmed batch that can be unlocked? If there are no others and this is a one shot deal, then this is a neat fluke for those who got lucky. There's no reason why prices on these would get inflated and people would make money reselling because there's an upper limit to how high the price will go because you'll approach x4 prices.

Sorry to hi-jack this thread, but I have a quick question. I have the same MOBO and Advanced Clock Calibration is nowhere to be found. I have an Athlon X2 BE-2400 in there now. Is this feature only available to Phenoms?

are you talking about werxen? Any ways with Realtemp at 4GHz it reports my CPU temps at 60c full load. I guse with 45nm you have to configer the system. Maybe you should pop your head up and tell them your story on this chip at tom's. I want to see that werxen's replies.

Anyone know someone who did this with a non-0904 chip? Or is it confirmed for sure that it's only for those chips.

We don't know if the potential is unlock the 4th core is exclusive to 0904... give it a shot!
Edit: over at XS, someone got 0849 to work.

Not only did I NOT win the 0904 batch lottery, I can't even boot my system with this processor installed. I have a Gigabyte GA-MA790FX DS-5, it is AM3 ready but will not post with the X3 installed. I have the latest bios and all. Maybe my RMA will be the unlockable batch.

hey try the AOD stablity tester to see if that picks up any thing as well. Also what dose the BIOS say your temps are compared to AOD in Idle?
