Check out this STOCK memory profile. I did nothing but enable XMP profile 1. I've yet to tweak it with the DRAM calculator. It's also auto OCing my cpu to 4.1ghz. Very happy
Did you ever do a power consumption check from the wall? It'd be interesting to see if your system pulls more power than other 2700x systems.Well, I am RMA'ing my 2700x. It started to run hot. It was 95c and barely throttleing (at stock) with a NH-D15 Noctura. So, in case the fans were not working at correct speed or something, I put the stock HSF on, and now its still running 95c, but throttling a lot more, down to 3.5 ghz @1.2 vcore NOT as it used to work doing 4 ghz @ 1.35 and 85c (still too hot IMO) on the same said noctura cooler.

Ryzen master for temps and speed. The load was asteroids@home@Markfw What are you using to measure temps? What kind of load? IIRC, even the latest coretemp will not accurately detect the temps on the new Ryzen CPUs, so I load Ryzen master on my 2700x system. Coretemp was telling me 95C, which of course is too high.

That's one thing that could cause all of the problems you mentioned.
You could open the case and aim a box fan into it and quickly determine if that's the problem.

My 2700x, which matches the voltages/frequency tables I've seen almost exactly, does 3.8GHz at 1.025 vcore at 100% load -- so my chip appears to be 'typical'. At that setting and at full 16t load the system pulls 132w at the wall with CPUTIN at 44c.
The reason I asked earlier about your current draw is that it is a quick way to narrow down the cause of your hot chip between a defective chip or a heat management problem. If it is indeed a defective chip actually producing too much heat, you would be able to see above average wattage use. Alternatively, if it is a cooling problem, your wattage would be typical for your voltage, frequency, and load. If it's a cooling problem and it's throttling, your wattage may actually read lower than typical.
The case is on its side with a huge (20 inch) fan blowing in it. Its not ventilation. AVX causes it to be 3500 speed, without that I get to 3700, but in both cases its 95c and throttling.@Markfw
Well, the only possibility that I can imagine (short of something just broken, of course) is that your open case isn't behaving enough like a wind tunnel. The air should be flowing through the case -- and it's possible that the open case is causing more recirculation and turbulance than pass-through.
After a period of uptime at load, are your SYSTIN and drive temps also high or are they nice and cool? If they are high as well, you probably have hot air turbulance in the case.
I have two 140mm fans in my case pulling air in through the front filter. I also have a pair of 120mm case fans, one pulling air in from the bottom and the other pushing air out behind the heatsink output(*). Yesterday, I added a low voltage adapter to the pair of 120's, causing them to drop from 1180rpm to 880rpm. My CPUTIN started climbing and quickly rose 12c before I shut it down to retool my fan curves. I turned the 140's up (a lot!) and fixed the problem.
The moral of that story is that a 2700x at full load, even undervolted, produces a huge amount of heat and needs *strong* airflow.
(*) I run positive pressure in my case and all vents without a fan are blocked to prevent recirculation -- except for the rear panel, where all the additional air exits.

I've got my second Ryzen-G computer build on order, I'm just waiting to find out whether the A6-9500 I previously bought will pay off again by allowing me to do the necessary BIOS update so the board will handle the Ryzen 2400G I've ordered for it.
