OK, now that I have a CPU being shipped out this week (it better) specs are below:

AMD 3900x 12 core
ASUS X470 Prime pro bios 5007
Ram, Gskill 4233 @ 3733 cl16 1.4v The bios only goes to 4000, but since I don't have the 3900x in yet, I will leave it at 3733, I heard that was the sweet spot anyway,.

The storage is an adata nvme, not sure the size. I also may make it my main box, so it will then be using a SATA 500 gig Samsumg 860

The video card may be a EVGA 2060, right now its a 1070ti Zotac I have 2 2700x boxes, and will swap out the video cards. I am going to try and post in an X370 ASRock Taichi with original bios just for fun.

Can't guarantee memory stability past 3200 on X370 so that will have to be on the next overhaul. This, for me, is just sort of an intermediary upgrade retaining the current core/thread count.

AMD 3700X 8c/16t
ASRock X370 Pro Gaming Fatal1ty w/ BIOS 5.30
G.Skill FlareX 3200 CL14 DDR4
RX Vega 64 w/ EK full cover block

Markfw, nice 3900x build. Why not a 5700XT for the video card so you have an ALL AMD rig?
Maybe later. I have 5 computers turned off, to save electricity, and all are minimun 8 cores/16t, the others are 14 core Xeons.

I just purchased the Gigabyte x570 Aorus Master Motherboard from Newegg..
I absolutely could not afford to get the Aorus Extreme like I so badly wanted though.
$700 plus tax is just to high for my blood and completely out of my reach for just a motherboard.
I also didn't purchase a CPU yet as I am trying to wait till the R9 3950x is released in Sept and hopefully between now and then the AIB 5700 XT cards will be out.
Not sure if I want to blow another $330 bucks right this minute for a 3700x for a place holder to tide me over till 3950x or not.
Maybe I should just use that cash and grab some DDR4 3600 16c instead??
Anyone else chose this mobo as well??

I "upgraded" (from getting the X570 Pro Carbon) and got the Aorus Ultra to go with 3700X as I missed getting a 3900X and may just forgo one until Threadripper 3 comes out.

LOL, it feels like the Zen1 launch again, but limited CPU instead of motherboard.

EDIT: It looks like Gigabyte put a lot of effort into their X570 boards, most are the 12+2 setup.

ALSO, I have noticed good B450 boards are now almost as much as entry level X570!

LOOKING AT YOU B450 Pro Carbon! $140 increased to $160, wtf! Might as well get an X570!

BUT, B450 Tomahawk, ~$115 is still a great deal, is supposed to use the same VRM setup as the Pro Carbon.

Newegg has Asus B450-F on sale right now for $110 after coupon, that is a nice board for 1220 sound chip and Intel LAN. Though Newegg reviews are iffy on it...

The Asus Prime X470-Pro looks to be a great buy on Newegg right now, ~$140 on sale.

I am going to sell the 2700X and order a 3600 to put in my Prime X470-Pro.

3600X - cooling upgrade TBD
Gigabyte X570 Aorus Ultra
32GB DDR4 3200 CL16 Crucial Ballistix (OC to 3466 at some point)
PowerColor 5700 XT
1TB PCIe NVMe 4.0 x4
Corsair AX860i
AOC Agon AG241QX

All parts going in the beloved Cooler Master Storm Sniper
https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/cases/mid-tower/sniper/

The 4790K system is getting decommissioned now. (have been loving 8c / 16t in every day usage since firing up the R7 1700 two years ago)

All parts gotten, an all day quest, had to get a 5700 at one MC and exchange it for the 5700 XT at another, lotta driving, glad I put new tires on the car!

The weenie tot is going to "help" tonight with the new setup, *hopefully* they do not get grumpy that they cannot do the fragile / delicate parts.

Holding off on the monitor for now, though I do want to upgrade to it, I am going to see how everything does at 1080p / 144hz then 4k / 60hz.
(I also have to get some items off of the honey-do / home project list before adding more to the new toy )

Unrelated, but, I picked up a new Raspberry Pi 4 (1GB base model) while waiting on the video card exchange. Am excited to mess with that too.

I am also slightly overwhelmed by the speed of this drive.

I was offended that Gigabyte essentially lied about the Aorus Extreme earlier in the year. They claimed it would be $599. At that price I might have gotten one. Maybe. But $699? No. There weren't enough compelling features on there for me to want to pay that much. It does stand out as the only x570 board to have an integrated 10Gb NIC, along with the aluminum plate instead of the chipset fan. I was tempted, I admit. And it's 8-layer too.

Anyone else chose this mobo as well??

Yes. I got the Master since it was cheaper than the C8H, has more VRM phases than the C8H, has "true" phases instead of doublers/twinned phases (for lower ripple, less vdroop, less voltage overshoot), is 6-layer, has integrated wifi . . . almost everything I wanted. If the chipset fan gets to be a problem, I can replace it with something less noisy, like an old chipset heatsink or something. I will never use the 10Gb NIC anyway so big whoop.

@B-Riz

Interesting observation on B450 prices. X370 Taichi is $160 and X470 Taichi is $204. No reason to get B450 for $160.

C6H and C7H are holding at $200 and $260 respectively . . . x570 isn't driving down their prices at all.

I wonder if I should wait for the 3950X or settle for the 3900X or 3700X. Too many CPUs that are an upgrade from my 1700X. It's hard for me to decide which one I want.

I'm kind of in your same boat. My second gaming system is a 1700x with 16 GB DDR4-3200 b-die and an X370 Taichi. I've been thinking about upgrading some of the components and would like a system with more cores and RAM for development purposes, but the 3950x is $250 more than the 3900x (IIRC). Plus, if I build this year, I'd probably stick with the Taichi X370 board and I know it supports the 3600-3900 but maybe not the 3950. I have a Gigabyte X370 board laying around with a 1500X in it, so I could just put the 1700X into that and build another cheap gaming system. What do you guys think about using a 3x00x CPU in a Taichi X370 board? Anyone going to try that? To be honest, I wouldn't mind upgrading the board - I prefer Asrock, but I'm a little disappointed in their X570 line so far (outside of maybe the Phantom X) and won't buy a Gigabyte board.

Of course, another line of thought is to replace my main 8700K system with a 3950X system and make the 8700K my new second gaming system. Yeah, the 8700K at 5 Ghz will be faster in most games, but probably not enough to be noticeable and the cores I gain could be very useful.

In the process of flashing my X370 board now. Just need to get through a couple of versions before I flash the Zen 2 ROM. I don't think I ever flashed this board since the initial AGESA updates were released in 2017 lol

Props to ASRock for the non beta BIOS though.

What ya planning on dropping in there? So you kind of had to do what the guy in the video i posted did i assume? Update to one version for the most recent to show?

A bit jealous of you guys. I'd like to play with new hardware again, but my Zen+ is more than enough. I'm eagerly checking my local Microcenter for open box stuff. A day ago they had open box 3600X for $200, was really tempted, but I told myself I'd be holding out for 8-12 core deals so had to pass, it was hard people... Instead I'm upgrading my mobos to Asus X470 Strix-F so that I would have solid motherboards for eventual Zen 2 upgrade. Will be selling my X370 Professional Fatal1ty (cost me pretty penny 2 years ago) and Asus X470 Prime Pro.

how much would you need for it? wouldn't mind having another. PM me if you're looking to offload it.

tracking info shows I wont have my CPU until next week, as it's shipping from the west coast. INCONVENIENT! my system is already stripped down...

Yeah I really liked the layout of the Aorus Master as it mirrors the layout pretty closely to its younger brother the x470 Auros gaming 7 wifi which I also own and love to death.
By far the greatest motherboard I have ever owned or tried.

On top of the looks and layout I also get a step up to 2 more VRM's and power phase modules from 10+2 to 12+2 and I am getting ePCI 4.0 .
Even though I was pretty heart broken over the insane price of the Aorus Extreme, I think I can be happy with my new purchase for now.

I also purchased and upgraded from a GTX 1060 sc to a GTX 1660 ti sc Ultra.
I know its not a huge upgrade but it something for now and it was on sale yesterday for only $269.
So now the plan is to get a Radeon 5700 xt AIB when released as long as it can absolutely destroy my 1660 ti in games and 4k video decoding.

The in-stock script I set up this morning paid off... Newegg has the 3900X in stock as of a few minutes ago. Got myself one to arrive by Friday

Going in a ASUS ROG Strix X470-F motherboard. Will be cooled with a 360mm water loop.
Will test G.Skill Samsung B-die memory in the following configurations:
4x8GB 3200 CL14
2x8GB 3600 CL15

More to come.

Do you own those Ram kits in those native speeds or are you just overclocking and underclocking to get those speeds and timings?

Those are the XMP/rated speeds.

I have previously done 3333 CL14 with tightened timings on the 4x8GB kit and was limited by Ryzen's IMC on the 3600 CL15 kit. We'll see if the X470 board becomes a limiting factor... or not.

So, apologies if this has been asked before, but do the X570 fans spin all the time, or only when needed? And if so, to what extent is this board specific?

Thanks, AMD!

Even cheapskates like me can enjoy the absurd: $500 CPU on a $70 board:
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-ryzen-9-3900x-tested-on-cheap-b350-motherboard/

Not much different than a fancy 570 board...just that VRM thing: "We took a closer look at VRM temperatures and were shocked that they can reach up to 140°C when B350 is paired with a powerful processor. This sounds bad at first, but the solution is: don't use watercooling. "

Airheads like me and Noctua have been preaching that for years. ;-)

Also...I want to salute you early adopters. Your pain is my gain next year month. Altho... my X58 Forever campaign needs a timeline adjustment.

MSI claims theirs can spin down to near-zero. Otherwise the fans always run.

Anyone trying out AsRock X570 Extreme4 or Steel Legend?

I really liked the BIOS on the P67 Extreme4 and current Z97 Extreme3, but I feel like I may be in the minority of AsRock BIOS enjoyment, lol.
