5 Weeks of Ryzen 1700X + B350 AM4. I feel weird, I feel like buying some more parts but my build is complete and perfect not a single issue.
I have an HP Z800 with 2x Xeon and nvidia Quadro at work. We lease the equipment from HP and return after 4 years after which we get a replacement machine so my Workstation is due for replacement.
So I am really looking forward to HP making some new updates with gasp.. 16C/32C core Naples to their workstation before I ask for replacement. I can choose what I want .... as long as it is HP.
Sadly I just got a replacement for my work laptop recently, no Zen Laptop.

I got a similar module CMX......C15R, and still stuck at 2667. what voltage do you use? 1.35 or more juice to get it 2933. i will try your timing tonight. see if it works on my asrock ab350

1.355 but dont know if i can do with 1.35 but i go 1.355 as i had to do that before on 2667.
Havnt stress tested it. Only played bf1 for 3 hrs.
The bios still seems kind of weird for this ram. It uses the same setting as prior bios and same trc 69 but for 2933 instead of 2677. But it works and it didnt before. ??? Beats me what is happening.
Happens when all else default. So not dependant on cpu freq.
I think may will bring us more knowlege. This agesa was about better latency. Next time its oc mem. I would just wait one or two months then all is probably acceptable. Its going pretty fast now for improvements.

i think i may have went right from 2400 to 3200 where as before I made a pit stop at 2667, and then 3200. still, i feel like a $250 board (closer to $800 if you count the 1800X I can't seem to sell) and memory that is on the QVL and "supports AM4" should basically run perfect OOB but that's none of my business apparently.

can't say that I'm very happy since basically nothing has changed or improved from the MSI build. well, I have debug digit LED now instead of just LED.

I think what we can take away from this is that everyone's experience with Ryzen/AM4 has been a little different, even with similar/identical hardware. There's a great deal of behavioral variance.

Most importantly, we're all finding ways to get the performance we want out of these systems, even if some of us have more trouble with it than others.

Ahh. it seems it was a bit unstable to start. Added a bit of SOC voltage, and now it is working for the moment. Give that a try

Still no luck, it's a weird feeling annoyance and fun at the same time. will try with looser timing next.

I dont think the current bios and agesa works for this ram as i am still having stability issues when booting up sometimes. I am running 16 - 15 - 15 - 36 (so tras at 36) now at standard voltage 1.35 and no change for soc voltage at the 2933. I think it needs a higher trc than the 69 but cant change it in bios.

Tweaktown review of the Biostar X370GT7. They have good analysis of the circuitry too.

Biostar released a new official BIOS dated 4/12. This is the official 1.0.0.4 AGESA update. I was running 407 beta. My memory was running @ 3200 on 407. It no longer will run @ 3200 on 412. Le sigh.... However I didn't have time to test anything, but the settings I was using prior. More tweaking is in order.

Hey, that's nothing. The other day I saw email from ebay advertising 1800x for $450'ish at 72% off list price of $1250. Retailers do that all the time, I believe Kohl's even got slapped for inflating "retail" prices.

All the asrock boards used to be like $10 cheaper, before asrock announced the MIR. Then suddenly newegg jacked the price up!

The intention is to keep the socket till technologies push for a change. So new PCIe or Memory tech is basically what it would take. Current projection is probably 2020.

That said keep in mind that mobo's need to recognize the new CPU's and that requires BIOS updates. So select your motherboard based on likelihood of getting updates. Like I personally would stay away from some of the real low cost B350 options. Once they get to a completely stable and almost turnkey like existence can we be sure the companies will still be updating the BIOS next year for ZenVer 2 or in 19 for ZenVer 3?

Yes. AMD has said they'll be using the AM4 socket until at least 2020. As such, AM4 upgradeability/future proofness (as usual) looks far better than any Intel platform.

got AIDA64 monitoring temps in conjunction with LCD panel... CPU diode seems super erratic though.

usually sits around 34c but even a slight usage increase it might shoot up to 45c... but like instantly

Well, the Taichi was $199 when I bought it weeks ago, and its still 199.

It used to be $189.99 at first when AM4 motherboards went up on newegg site, but a few days after ASRock issued their rebates in March Newegg adjusted price upwards accordingly.

From looking around a bit, the consensus seems to be the Tachi and the Asus Hero are the best boards for overclocking/memory compatibility right now? I've got a 1700 sitting here doing nothing and I'm itching to get the system built now. I've favored gigabyte lately but not heard glowing reports of their aorus boards so far.

Yes Ranulf, I would say the C6H is the best OC board with the Taichi running second, though a few rare oddballs are doing well with that $299 MSI board. Not that I recommend it.

my board's holding steady at $240 if you count in the MIR... the carbon only ran me $180.00 when I could finally snag one.

I'd say I'm a chump also, considering this board is basically a glorified Taichi with "gamier" elements and 50 bucks more.

FYI ebay currently has six X370 Taichi's for $208.10 from two different sellers. Not quite as good as $194 (after rebate and shipping from newegg), but at least you can get one if you hurry.
