The consumers just eat up Ryzen but it seems the suppliers can't handle the demand, the entire launch is very resistive from the industry as a whole. Motherboard shortages, RAM prices, AM4 Adapter shipments, Pre-Order mishaps.
I'll be letting out a HUGE sigh of relief when I get my Motherboard & Corsair AM4 Bracket and get the system up and running. I'll keep it at stock 2400 mem clocks until BIOS matures.
It will be interesting when Ryzen 5 & 3 launch, can the rest of the industry handle the second wave?
Yeah, motherboard manufacturers did not anticipate demand. However, I think it's more indicative of really really low sales expectations rather than Ryzen selling like hotcakes. If you look at ebay auctions from monoprice and geekdeal that sell 1700x for $370-380 ($340 if you're lucky to get 10% ebay bucks promo) and no tax, they didn't sell all that many. Currently Geekdeal only sold 13 CPUs and the deal has been posted to slickdeals and other deal sites. 13. THIRTEEN. Monoprice if I remember correctly sold less than 100 CPUs before the deal expired. Newegg don't really do that. In fact during all this Ryzen craziness I had a few times where going from adding to cart to trying to purchase they removed it from the cart automatically because stock was gone. They don't allocate stock that's in cart so if you do it fast enough you can purchase something that's not in stock.Basically they sold more motherboards than they knew they had, in order to lock people into a purchase contract. It's a dick move, but one many places do. So you'll get your board, but you'll be in a queue of people waiting for the next shipping batch.
