Yeah. I know BigJ2078. I was just giving Jeff7181 a hard time. I need to get out of here. I'm starting to enjoy this.
LOL! Hey, sniperruff, Lets not add Cyrix to the mix too.

my point with bigj 2078 exactly. more competition = sweet deals for consumers
IMO 2 big companies fighting to sell a similar product = 2 guys sacking each other with open money bags. we little consumers watch them fight while we pick up the wads of dough!
i say 3,4 CPU manufacturers are enough. throw in more then they can trick the noobs (me) into buying stuff that are unusable within a matter of years when the small companies close!

Jeff7181,
And, what value did any of your posts have contained in them? All you've presented are a bunch of unsubstantiated opinions from a very insecure person. You can deny it all you want but it's obvious. You're just mad because i didn't go along with your ridiculous ranting. And, you have no sense of humor too. Just the facts, man. Just the facts.
Your turn

Since the heated debate is on the chips that I cannot decide on, maybe you guys can help me on it.
Presently I have the P4 board Epox 4G4A+, and cannot decide on whether to keep Intel or go to AMD. Should I get the 1.8A or should I go with AMD TBred 1800+ and overclock. I can get a good AMD board for about $50 used so the AMD setup will turn out cheaper. I am afraid of Newegg OEM warranty of 30 days only. I thought all OEM chips are warranty by the seller for 1 year?
Thanks.
hehe...smiles are always good, esp. in flamebait threads...no offense to the thread creator, but these threads never solve anything except to divide the fanboys ever further apart...Originally posted by: DAPUNISHER

Well manufacturers does not support OEM CPUs. It's the resellers that give the warranty.

Ight ill jump in, AMD SUX, INTEL RULES!!!! Yeah im a cool guy nowIt really comes down to brand names and money. I just ordered $605 worth of parts tonite (finally) and o boy lets just say this will be a sweet upgrade But I looked at performance/price too, and really didnt take a big chunk out of my wallet. It all comes down to what brands you like and money like i said before, just like cars, its what you grew up with, or love and/or trust. This Intel vs. AMD crap is getting old but this thread opened with a simple question, and all the fanboys came in ranting about how amds stomp intels ect. And Mikki had a very good point:

BTW, the reason all Intel chips are above $100 (except for the Celerons)? They make money that way. Selling chips for $60 does not gain much of a profit (if any at all considering the 9 metal layer process the Athlons are fabricated on). AMD needs to do this to gain a price advantage (and sell more), however, it doesn't exactly help them. It's a pretty faulty business model and is probably why they're loosing money.
