wow...this thread hit the shitter a long time ago

i am, and will always be a corvette guy.

are we forgetting the ZR1 - doing all this wonderful crap in 1990 - averaging over 175mhp for 24hrs STRAIGHT...STRAIGHT...as in pedal to the floor for 24 frickin hours - find another car that can come close to that and still be offered with any sort of warranty...

the modern C5 ZO6 with 405hp was laying some serious smack down on the euro competition at sometimes 1/5th or less of the price! cmon!

and the C6 ZO6? even better yet

now if you want to talk tuners, lets bring lingenfelter and mallet into the mix. for the price of your car plus 49,995 you can have a totally street legal car that runs 9's, does over 230, and outhandles most euros on the road...top that...at still less than 1/2 the price of most...

i love this argument...the euro fanbois are just pissed cause we do it bigger, better, faster, and cheaper...get over your penis envy and join the rest of society... kthxbye

Punch the gas and you can't breath. I love it. Body style is straight and clean cut without all the flared, scooped, and spoilered plastic BS that every new Mustang BUT the Cobra has.

I wanted a Porsche Boxster S for the longest time because I loved the clean styling and interior and the whole 'OMG a Porsche' stigma, but in the end I realized people don't give a rats ass what kind of car you have or what features it has. Because when that light turns yellow and you have to stop next to the person you we're egging on or sh1t talking with, and there is nobody in front of you and no excuses, we all know what happens next and who gets to laugh all the way; suddenly name brand and bling doesn't matter anymore. It would have cost $20k for a turbo 3.6L swap on the Boxster S just to get to 360HP. The Cobra comes with 390HP stock, 500HP with a wrench and a flash tuner, and 700HP+ with a few bolt ons! The final factor was the ability to get my hands dirty because the 4.6 aftermarket makes the Porsche aftermarket seem non-existent (just try to find high performance cams for a Boxster S 3 years ago, if not today).

And the Cobra seats four and wont piss me off sitting in the garage while we get smoked in a buddy's Senta because there are more than two of us that day.

700 ft-lbs @ 2000 RPM FTMFW.

I've had people in M3s riding my ass on the off ramp interchange at 80+ trying to prove something about handling and I've put distance on them and forced them to back off, so don't give me that crap that American cars can't handle unless you're still living in the 70s-80s.

I absolutely cannot stand rice, but I love all cars and have no problems with imports that can put down real numbers (I even admire nice clean stock Civics with B20 swaps and nothing else; 300 HP and 2,800 lbs is better than most cars on the road). If I had infinite money I'd stick a 3SGTE in my '95 Camry, I'd get a Magnacharger and a '07 GTO, and a 350Z with a Stillen twin screw blower; all 500+ HP cars that would be sitting next to the Cobra. For now I'll just keep saving up to upgrade my Kenne Bell 2.4 to a 2.8 and eyeball that 1600 HP 4.6 shortblock.

aside from my corvette comments...i agree with this guy....terminators rock the house...and scare us vette guys on a regular basis... soi give you props...ANYTHING WITH THAT MUCH POWER IS TOTALLY SICK! damn right 700 ft/lbs @ 2000rpm FTMFW :-D

How often do you drive top speed? Are you Batman?? Acceleration is what matters in the real world.

They also actually have a nice looking interior unlike every american car ive ever seen. Before you laugh in my face about fast, I'm not talking about a vette or racing down at the track, I'm saying faster then average cars you'd see out on the road, and faster then any rice crap with fart cans.

I also dont have any lame decals on my car that would get laughed at outside of hillbilly ville.
LOL

My Crown Vic is faster and safer. It also seats more people and in comfort.

Interior appearance is subjective to say the least. I love the interior of my Mopar, but not the interior of my ford.

where exactly is hillbillyville?

I doubt your Crown Vic is safer. The BMW's unibody will do better in a crash and it probably handles better.

As far as interiors go, I love the interior of my Grand Cherokee. The current generation of the Grand, and other Jeeps, have terrible interiors. The new Jeeps are the ones designed by DaimlerChrysler.

I agree.

I am a musclecar car guy. Yes, I like 1/4 mile racing and big nasty American V8s. I worship at the alter of the almighty 426 Hemi. This engine in a 1969 Dodge Daytona topped 200 mph on a closed course, setting NASCAR records left, right and center. It was faster than any racing car on the planet at the time.

Super Stock Hemi Darts and 'Cudas (1968 only) are the fastest 1/4 mile vehicles ever made and sold to the general public ($5200 and it was yours).

This is what I like. A car's worth is measured a 1/4 mile at a time. I'll take a nasty V8 any day over a VTEC anything. I don't need to rev the hell out of my smallblock Mopar to incinerate ricers. While they are bragging about how many 15 year olds they have picked up while blasting their Pokemon music, I am busy picking up real women who prefer the sound of a real engine making real power in a car that has real style.

That felt good to get off my chest.

Totally beside the point of your post, but I could take that car every time if I ever ran into on my way to work with my 3,700lb $40k Cobra with AC and back seat. It appears to run high 9s to 10s stock, and with my weight I have a traction advantage. At the very least it wouldn't be passing me and cutting me off at any intersection merges at WOT. I don't drive on F1 courses on my way to work or school or to the mall so I don't have to care about that

Kenne Bell makes a 2.8L blower for the LS1 as well. Stick that on a forged LS1 and you won't have to be scared anymore Even 8 psi on a stock LS1 is usually enough to hang with the average modded Terminator. Only diff is the Terminators have just about the best bottom end money can buy from a factory car. It would cost a pretty penny to start from scratch and build a forged LS1/6 for a modern Z06. The Z06 will always have the weight and aerodynamic advantage to start from though if you put the time and money into it.

The biggest reason I cite choosing the Cobra, apart from the Terminators having the fearsome reputation they do, over a Porsche or Z06 is I don't have to worry about leaving the car in the garage while we go out in a buddy's Senta or Corolla. Whats the point of having an insane car only to leave it home all the time and get bullied and picked on and smoked all night long simply because there is more than 1 passenger

One of these days I'll have a Kenne Bell or Magnacharged 427 Z06 sitting next to the Cobra

i envy you greatly sir...i just hope that my 84 vette will no longer be hassled by terminators once the Mark IV 427 Big Block swap is done. something about a 326/334 cammed 12.5:1 compression forged big block with a 200hp punch of giggle gas that just makes me get a stiffy...

I definitely have some envy for you guys here. That Cobra Terminator sounds awesome, and I've always loved the styling of the 95 or so Vette. Still want one, to this day. I'd even take one bone dead stock.

In the mean time, I'll just drive around in my 88 accord with a massive 122hp, and enjoy watching guys like you two fly by.

edit: for spelling.

I love those guys with the muscle cars though with the plastic interiors.

You act like BMW and Mercedes haven't gone downmarket with their cheap ass plastic 3 series and C class cars. When leather is a mere OPTION, it's not a BMW or Mercedes anymore, sorry.

Huh? Almost everything on a BMW or Mercedes is an option. Their options lists are endless. And without the options basically not a complete car - heck even the floormats are an option.

I was implying that simple things like leather seats are usually STANDARD in said cars, at least when those brands use to actually mean something.

When you start making them options in varying price ranges, and anybody making minimum wage can lease a 3 series or C class with a plastic dash and cloth seats, you no longer have a BMW or Mercedes, you just have a regular car like everyone else with a fancy name on it that pretends to be something it isn't.

One of these days I'll have a Kenne Bell or Magnacharged 427 Z06 sitting next to the Cobra

i envy you greatly sir...i just hope that my 84 vette will no longer be hassled by terminators once the Mark IV 427 Big Block swap is done. something about a 326/334 cammed 12.5:1 compression forged big block with a 200hp punch of giggle gas that just makes me get a stiffy...

for haters or non-believers: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=1349539

thats the walkthrough/worklog for the project so far...and YES it is a long time in the making...a LONG ASS TIME...but kinda sucks when money gets tight. then again i'd love to see more HP for 10k when im done

K24A2 = ~200+ WHP

I drove around, and still do from time to time, in a bone stock '95 Camry DX 5SFE (first car I bought with my own money) with less than 100 HP at the wheels, so I've been there. It gets old. That is why I pursued the Cobra. Quick, easy, and dirty means of payback. (I've driven fast cars before, just none that I personally paid for and owned or that were new and shiny... a $250 '68 Chrysler wagon with rotted interior and a 400+ HP 4bbl 440ci comes to mind...).

You can be rest assured by the fact that I NEVER start it first on the road and I don't pick on people who don't stand a chance. But I am quick to lay to bed anyone starting it with me or picking on someone with a beater. I am quite sympathetic to people who are making it on their own and not going to college and buying cars with mommy and daddy's credit cards. I am actually quite humble and careful when some honest working kid in his parents beater is next to me so as not to seem like an ass. It's very hard not to chirp the tires or keep the exhaust vibrations down letting the clutch out (bassani exhaust puts out loads of bass at idle).

Rice is the obvious exception. Just having a fart can, blue LEDs, a 10 foot wing, or all of the above, in a obnoxious revving 60HP econobox is automatically guilty of starting it no matter what they are doing. If the driver is a douche slouched to the center of the car with one hand on the wheel revving at anything that moves... no mercy.

We'll sometimes I'll take off from a light in 3rd or 4th, but thats not mercy so much as rubbing it in that rice sucks.
