People are getting fed up here and we might soon be entering a no more male asylum seekers sentiment!

I don't want to see my state turn red.. so dems in congress need to pay attention here..

Hate to say it but those bus rides from Texas to New York are having an effect after a year.. gotta stop letting them in at the border and send these people back.

Not right wing propaganda.. just liberal nimbyism..

Or change laws.. only females can apply

You know how everyone is afraid of the bad GUYs.

Not sure I share this sentiment personally since seen some crazy women.. but you know politics and compassion.

Biden won New York by 23 points. It would be much more likely for Kansas to go blue than New York to go red. Do you ever hear republicans bemoaning their abortion policy because it might make Kansas go blue? Of course not.

Good point and I don't have a crystal ball looking forward. I expect it to hurt them but I could be wrong.

I guess it makes me a bad person for deriving some small amusement from the situation. Lots of people want open borders as long as all those foreigners don't end up in their state.
Just for the official record, nimbyism is not only perfectly normal, it's rational, logical, and desirable.

New Yorkers don’t support open borders though - where did you get that ridiculous idea from? Remember, Democrats have repeatedly attempted to pass laws that would reduce illegal in migration while increasing legal immigration, only to have those efforts furiously resisted by Republicans.

Just for the official record, nimbyism is not only perfectly normal, it's rational, logical, and desirable.
I guess it depends on how much you view a mass homelessness crisis as rational, logical, and desirable.

I personally think mass homelessness is bad but maybe you enjoy the local flavor it provides.

It is not any of those things and is almost a uniquely American thing we seem to have inherited from the Brits.

I think it more likely we got it from the chimps. My guess is that Brits can be liberal and conservatives. But NIMBYism is clearly not confined to party. Looks more likely to be human nature.

Reminds me of a joke. A science teacher asks the class what is Rabies and what can you do about them. A black child raises his hand and answers, Rabbis is Jewish Priests and their ain't nutten you can do about um.

"The official record"? Your statement provides nothing in the way of any record except stating what your personal opinion is, and in this case we could have guessed it without you saying anything. Try not to daub everyone with the brush of your shitty opinions. Everyone here has heard the "silent majority" bullshit before.

I guess it’s fine you are finally admitting you are a bad person. But then that has been obvious for years here.

Luckily more people are for zoning than against it. It comes from the desire to not live in a shithole. Everyone want's to live in a nice place, and will work hard to do it. Some people want to make everything fair by forcing ev

  1. A figure of speech in which a word or phrase that ordinarily designates one thing is used to designate another, thus making an implicit comparison, as in “a sea of troubles” or

Bad person? Nah. What it does do is cement how people on this forum see you and it really highlights how you are a shitty American who revels in the misery of other Americans. It would be one thing if you advocated for policies and political parties that would address the issue that were rejected by the people whose misery you find enjoyment in but since you don’t do that and in fact you support a political party that has shown zero effort in trying to fix the problems you just come off as another right wing dick.

That being said, how many buses with how many immigrants have been bussed to New York? Because I find it hard to believe that in a city with millions of people that a few hundred immigrants is impacting anyone’s day to day life.

One solution would be to have a program in place that helps immigrants find places to live and helps them get jobs until their hearing process is complete.

First, no one, and I mean literally no one, wants open borders.
Second, NIMBYism is the leading cause of homelessness in the US. Lying assholes like yourself use big govt regulations in order to pad their pockets and price people out of housing.

So what did you intend your "figure of speech" to helpfully convey to your audience?

It’s also funny seeing someone say people living in NYC don’t want foreigners. Nearly 40% of NYC is foreign born.

This is just sheltered people projecting their own bias onto people who actually live here.
Like all conservatives, he is completely disconnected from any reality not his own.
These are the people who call themselves patriotic defenders of free speech while cheering a song about how they murder their fellow Americans for their speech in conservative parts of the country.
So of course they also believe the wealthiest and most diverse area of the country hates foreigners and has been ruined by immigrants.

It is absolutely mind boggling to me that NYC has an incredibly obvious path to incredible wealth and prosperity that it simply chooses not to take.
Existing property owners have a tendency to resist building new housing the same way shareholders resist new stock issuance. They see the dilution, not the investment.

Yeah but the bolded is right wing propaganda and you repeat uncritically. A lot of numbers were mentioned in the article indicating there were tens of thousands of migrants coming into New York, can you find a credible citation for that because the article provided none. In fact, the article was very light on facts and heavy on anecdotes and the articles it linked to were also light on actual facts.

New York City should get federal aid for thislike all this shit hole fascist deep south and red states do. That's all.

It would also help if we didn't have a mayor as fucking incompetent and a narcissist as Eric Adams. But he was a Republican light so that's what you get when you vote Republican light.

It’s funny/sad to me that so many people hate immigrants and to justify their stupidity have convinced themselves that the rest of us do too but are lying to ourselves about it.

It explains why conservatives think they never lose elections fairly. They think everyone secretly agrees with them and are unable to understand why they keep losing. They keep losing because they are delusional.

So if zoning is so great do you have any thoughts as to how to address the mass humanitarian crisis it has caused?
