Anand a Pro-InteL???

I am not stating in any way that I believe that Anand is Pro-Intel, because I think he is quite fair. Though I do believe that the systems would be close, but the Athlon would probably be faster in the majority of applications. It would be interesting if someone--hint hint Anand--could benchmark these setups in numerous Windows 2000 situations.

I just want to add my two bits into all these "Anand pro-intel" crap threads.

First: They way you say Anand, you make it seem as if your talking about Anand himself, not AT. If you are, I would like to point out that the Buyer's guide was done by Mike, not Anand.

Second: Anand started AT with a review of the K6. He used to mention in AMD reviews how the K6 review is what got him started, etc.

Pulsifier: I'll see what I can turn up tomorrow. It's my understanding that, on multi-threaded apps, you get between 40-80% speed improvement when you switch from one processor to two. I've seen 40% quoted on 3DStudio max as a general guideline, and I've seen 80% quoted on things such as Linux kernal compiles. Since I wouldn't think a 1.2GHz Athlon is 40% faster than a 933MHz Pentium III (let alone 80% faster), then I wouldn't have thought that it would be as cut and dry as you made it out to be initially.

Maybe I'm wrong. It's an interesting question, anyway. I'll look around and see what I can turn up.

I would be interested in those results also. I probably shouldn't have made that statement, but I still remember some other articles and benchmarks that I cannot seem to find. I'll look harder tomorrow, as for now its bedtime for me.
