It looks like winter weather will be arriving early this year for us.

Rain today followed by a nasty cold air-mass will create snow squalls starting this evening with the potential for serious lake-effect snow accumulations. The snow combined with gusty winds should make for some challenging getting around.

How lovely.

here's part of the warning:

LOCAL SNOWFALL AMOUNTS IN THE HEAVIEST SNOW SQUALLS OF 10 TO 20 CM ARE EXPECTED OVERNIGHT AND SUNDAY. IN ADDITION, STRONG AND GUSTY NORTHWEST WINDS WILL WHIP UP FRESHLY FALLEN SNOW, RESULTING IN SUDDEN VERY LOW TO AT TIMES NIL VISIBILITY IN BLOWING SNOW.

THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT A STRONG SNOW SQUALL OFF OF LAKE HURON MAY BECOME NEARLY STATIONARY ACROSS THE REGION SUNDAY INTO SUNDAY NIGHT. IF THIS HAPPENS, LOCAL SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OF 20 TO 30 CM ARE POSSIBLE BY MONDAY MORNING.

It's been snowing here too, I am excited. I picked up my snowchecked Yamaha sidewinder turbo snoemobile a couple of weeks ago, and I am itching to try it out. I hope northeast Oregon gets buried, as soon as possible. I want to tear up as many mountains as I can with this thing.

It's a horribly built loft, but it's in a "hip" area of town - Just far enough from the bad areas to be safe, just close enough to make it seem like the residents are interested in mixed-income living.

it's been snowing for about a hour now. mostly just blowing around. It looks like a blizzard outside but not much accumulation yet.

Went for a 3 hour bicycle ride yesterday, wore the wrong gloves. At the 1/2 way point I couldn't bend my index finger. Took my glove off to open an energy bar and couldn't open it. Took ten minutes to get my glove back on. Had to ask a kind gentleman in a park if I could hold my hands in front of the heater of his truck for a few minutes to warm my hands. Once I got home and got my hands warmed, I realized my feet were frozen too. Didn't notice it with the hand pain.

You need to be more aware of the world around you. Focus is good except when you're dealing with nature . The world doesn't care how healthy or, how good of shape you're in, I've lost too many friends who thought the world was a benign place that could be taken for granted .
