The holy trinity IMO is:
Android Phone
iOS Tablet
Windows PC
That way you're not in any one camp and you have the top hardware for each category.
Those are definitely good points, but, how does one move photos or MP3 files from tablet to PC, PC to tablet, or camera to tablet with an iPad?
this is actually pretty good, and I'd say this worked last year and definitely 2011. I think Android tablets have caught up immensely well. We're still lacking in apps and tablet UI in general from Google, but the other benefits of Android tablets such as being able to load videos and all your media with little restrictions helps make the Android tablet a better choice for me. When it comes to apps and reading in bed I could go either way, and I'd probably swing iOS simply because the iPads battery life is so much better (especially for standby, like losing 1% a day only).

I think battery life probably depends on what ROM is on the tablet. They do vary quite a bit.
Here's my piece-of-junk HTC One V cellphone with the phone function turned off on JB (4.2.2):
It'll go maybe just a bit under 40 days on one charge on standby, so it's not a huge difference from my iPad 2.

Step one - Upload a song I recently paid for to my dropbox account. Step two - Download that song from your dropbox to any number of the devices you own.
STOP - Do you own an iOS device??
Me - Yes.
iOS - I'm sorry dave, I'm afraid that unless that is a photo, I cannot let you do that.
Me - You mean I cannot save this song to my iOS music library?
iOS - No
Android - YES YOU CAN!! Simply select the music folder in the export options and you are good to go! I have a number of free apps that can play that for you as well.
Me - iOS this seems like this should be a rather simple option, I mean you can do it for pho..
iOS - YOU MUST DOWNLOAD FROM THE APPLE MUSIC STORE AND USE iCLOUD IF YOU WANT EASE OF MUSIC TRANSFERS WITHOUT PHYSICAL CABLE SYNC!! ALL OTHER OPTIONS ARE VERBOTEN.
I have thought about this in a long time, that iOS restricts access to the filesystem unless its a photo.
Sigh. That reality distortion field is some pretty some strong stuff.

Dropbox requires Internet access. That works most of the time, but not always when traveling in remote areas. BTW, what kind of cable connects a iPad to a PC? iTunes requires joining and installing and becoming linked to Apple. It's a non-starter for my existing jazz collection. There is hope for iPad via Bluetooth links, but that is extra $$$.
Moving music and photos between my Droid and PC is easy. Connect via USB, then drag and drop using Explorer in the PC. If I knew of a cable to do that with a iPad, I might consider it.
I still remember the nightmares of my friends who tried to show their photos or to play songs on someone else's computers and ended up wiping off their iPhones and iPods thanks to "iTunes Sync". Then they came to me for help.. (Not that I knew any better) iTunes is the kind of bloatware that I abhor on PC.
