Android tv box

Hello, i have been seing these android Tv boxes for cheap on Ebay and Bangood https://www.banggood.com/HK1-Mini-R...31.html?rmmds=search&ID=3426&cur_warehouse=CN



My question is what is the difference between having this box and having a smart tv and a smartphone, does the Android Tv box have any features that i couldnt do with my phone and smart tv?

Most of them are just a tablet without a screen, so not really Android TV.

what is it that you want these android boxes to do?
i tried one before and it was terrible.
Kodi crashed after about 1hr, maybe overheat?
some apps cannot be installed. and web browsing was slow for some sites.

the ultimate box is still the Nvidia Shield TV. strangely there are no competitions even after 2+ years on the market.
