Another Computer Not Posting! help!

Abit KR7A-Raid latest bios Hmmm, 9n, I think (supports 2200+ cpu's)

Got a new 2200+ today so I downloaded the latest bios flashed it and set it up for the upgrade from the 1700, to the 2200. switch CPU's powers up everything spins real nice but not even a beep just sits there.

Clear Cmos put the 1700 in boots up fine as a 1500 change to 1700 load up windows everything is great. reboot change setting to 2200 again same results... I've switched CPU's 5 times now made sure it was seated properly, heatsinked properly, Bios'ed properly, 1700 works fine 2200 just sits there.


Ohhh 340watt enlight power supply AMD aproved.


Did I get a dud, or is there something else I can look at?

Try underclocking the 2200 to 1700 and see if that makes it post. If so you can figure that your bios does not support a 2200.
I had a similar problem with and 1800 xp on a board that I had and after installing the chip in another board, the cpu ran just fine.

That is odd. Are you sure that the 9N was sucessfull ? (checking while booting the 1700) If so (and it sounds you did a great job of debugging so far btw), the underclocking suggestion by slowbutsure sounds very reasonable. The only other thing would be to swap it out with a working 2200 in a working system, and that is probably next to impossible or you would have done it. Well good luck. I have built about 50-70 AMD Athlon systems and have NEVER had a dud cpu. I have even made some very stupid mistakes (chipping a 1100 core, still worked; no fan on a 1800 up to 80C, shut down, but came back after 3 min cooldown). Not saying it can't happen, but I really think the odds are better that the board may not work great with that cpu if all else fails and you can't check in another working system. Yes, probably something else = a mod to the rightmost/5th L3 bridge.

Well, I have a revision 1.00 mobo so it might not support the 2200 CPU. I'll try different settings but shouldn't it boot up as something if i clear the cmos?

Checked and yes bios update was sucessfull.

heh, johncar thanks for the info went to that sight and maybe I can decode it later my skills in unlocking cpu's is zip


well, newegg doensn't cross ship CPU's so i guess I'll have to wait a few days to see if it's the CPU.
