I know it's OT, but I think NOT getting ripped off is a Hot Deal and I've seen stuff like this posted here before:

I just got the following e-mail claiming to need all my information including credit card and bank account numbers and pins...these people are sickening. The page it links to actually looks like eBay, but the url directs to "http://access-verify.com".

DON'T GET DUPED!!

Same here, funny thing is it was sent to an email account I have that isn't registered at eBay... If they wanted to scam me, they should have at least used my correct eBay email account

Got the same thing but just substitute Paypal for Ebay. Almost the exact same wording, if I remember correctly. Total scam; bunch of jerks. Problem is that they only need one person in a thousand to be duped for it to be considered a success. And that is just about the going rate of the number of people that fall for this crap.

My wife got one a couple of months back...and if you simply view the source code for the page you can usually track down their email address....mailing it to themselves via POST ...he had 'victim' as the subject line......I filled out his form with his own email address in every field and sent it to him a couple hundred times....I guess I was bored....and pissed off too :disgust:

Ebay NEVER emails user/customer. They always address you by name.

Rule of thumb: EVERYTHING IS FAKE.

how to spot fakes?, well ebay or any other trustful site would never ask for your personal information through an email, ebay even says that they would never ask for your information, if they ever needed your information, they'd probably put it on their site, which is much more trustful unless they got hacked which i doubt as a scenario

Will, that was not even called for, there is no need to insult people like that.

These are a good reminder for everyone that these scams are out there. This thread reminded me to call up my dad to make sure he does not fall for these things.
