The Obama camp was waiting for Palin to make her "lipstick on a pig" gaffe. They just got a boatload of em. I see why McCain kept her hidden for so long, she's terrible unscripted.

I don't understand why Republicans consistently set the bar so low for themselves and their candidates. When we elect unqualified people into office, everyone loses. Think about it.
And the Democrats have the least qualified candidate at the top of the ticket in modern history... think about it.

Ignoring the fact that that is a complete falsehood (like just this morning when you left Coolidge off your 'worst Presidents ever' list because he had been a state governor), that issue no longer matters now that McCain has picked an even less qualified candidate for VP. Especially when one considers his age and medical history.

The "transcript" soonerproud posted is actually a collection of EXCERPTS which is clearly stated in the link.

PALIN: Charlie, you're in Alaska. We have that very narrow maritime border between the United States, and the 49th state, Alaska, and Russia. They are our next door neighbors. We need to have a good relationship with them. They're very, very important to us and they are our next door neighbor.

GIBSON: What insight into Russian actions, particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of the state give you?

PALIN: They're our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.

GIBSON: What insight does that give you into what they're doing in Georgia?

PALIN: Well, I'm giving you that perspective of how small our world is and how important it is that we work with our allies to keep good relation with all of these countries, especially Russia.

This part of the interview is not in said excerpts.

Again, you totally fail to understand what the Bush Doctrine means. McCain was in favor of war in Iraq even before Bush was. Hell, arguably it should be called the McCain Doctrine. Meanwhile, he continues to be even more adamant about the war than President Bush is.

You should probably stop posting until you have time to do a little casual reading. You might want to start with this article from Parameters, the Army War College Quarterly.

Many people were for the deposing of Saddam that were against the Bush Doctrine, including Obama's VP pick. McCain could very well be for the doctrine, but so far has failed to recently endorse all of it.

Biden was for the war before he was against it.

Again, your posts continue to make it clear you don't know what the Bush Doctrine is. Again, please do some reading before you continue to post about this. You're arguing in a childish, nonsensical way.

Have you seen the polls?

She is announced as the VP and Obama's number start to tank and the republican party becomes energized........ yeah she is terrible.

All the Obama bots & Obama can do is talk about Palin and you think it's a bad thing? I hate to break it to you McCain was not doing well and wasn't terribly liked even by his own party till this.

I swear once you turn liberal all you have on your mind is hate and absolutely no common sense....

Lincoln's credentials were similar to Obama's, and he did OK.

Except for going to war to keep Texas in the union. What was he thinking?

She was clearly coached to provide certain responses and use certain catch phrases as much as possible, but it was a poor showing. For one, she was not wrong about NATO and russian aggression but she was espousing a view not shared by most americans regarding russian culpability. And she endorsed Obama's view on incursions by the U.S. special forces into Pakistan, something JOHN MCCAIN IS AGAINST.

It's nice to know she has divergent views from him though

I suppose I should give examples of the consensus but I'm lazy

Lincoln's credentials were actually inferior to Obama's. He only did 2 years in the House, and those went so poorly for him that he didn't even try for re-election.

As it is, to say that either Lincoln or Obama are (or were) in any way unqualified is simply ridiculous. Qualification is an overall package of which experience makes up only a small part. In fact, someone can even be experienced and yet still not qualified. Because what matters most is the ability to get the job done.

She did not hit a homerun at all but she did not completely tank. She did just good enough to not loose support with the public. I do get a good laugh at the responses if she was half as bad as some of you claim McCain will be 30 point behind this time next week. I still stand by her as VP not nearly as bad as having Pelosi run this country with rubber stamp obama.

Not knowing what the Bush Doctrine is, is pretty bad. McCain could drop dead on Jan 20, 2009 at 6:30 PM DC time, and Palin damned well better know what she's inheriting from Bush given such a contingency.

You're not sure what the VP does, Sarah?

Here's what you do:

You be ready to be President at ANY moment's notice.

You obviously are not.

Sadly, a large chunk of the electorate doesn't seem to know either, or even give a shit.

"... we must not blink, Charlie"

Palin scares the shit out of me, I don't want her anywhere near the red button. The last thing we need to do is rush into another conflict without considering the validity of the intelligence or the political effects on the region.

BTW, did anybody else catch nuc-u-lar?

Evidence of said missing backbone?

His whole shtick is that he tries to combine Obama and Nancy Pelosi in every thread imaginable. Now I imagine you're as confused as I am as to why he thinks the Speaker of the House would suddenly be running the presidency, particularly considering the lack of close ties between the two and their separation in the houses of Congress, but he continues to do it at every opportunity regardless of how many times he's slapped down on it.

I guess he heard it on the radio somewhere and latched on.

Also, do you want Americans dying in Georgia and Ukraine?
Palin will get you there:
http://edition.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/11/palin.abc/
Palin said she supported NATO membership for Ukraine and Georgia...
When Gibson pointed out that NATO membership would require the U.S. to come to Georgia's aid in case of war, Palin said: "Perhaps so."
"I mean, that is the agreement when you are a NATO ally, is if another country is attacked, you're going to be expected to be called upon and help," she said.

When has he stood up to his party? Obama is a classic puppet he won't take any sort of stand he lets others do that.
