another mp3 player thread

I'm looking for an mp3 player with good voice recording for class lectures. I did a search, and all I came up with was a topic that talked about the technicalities of line-in/powered mic ports and another one that ended with the discussion of two mp3 players. The lectures I have in mind are given with a microphone that can be heard easily from 100 ft away.

The other specs:
less than or equal to 10 gb
FM tuner
lots of bang for the buck (under $200 preferrably, but flexible)
decent customer support
good audio quality, obviously
battery life of 14+ hours

A lot of online reviews point toward the Rio Carbon, but I can't get a definite answer for voice recordings.

Well, i know alot of people bag ipod's, but I'm planning to buy an ipod mini in the new few weeks, so i'll put in my 2cents worth.

The iPod mini can be had for about US$200 (less if you're a student), and has a 4GB internal HDD(you can also get the 6GB if you are willing to pay extra). If you want to record voice directly onto it, you will have to buy an addon microphone.

Other options you might want to look at would be the Creative Zen Micro, m:Robe, iRiver and Dell DJ. Personally I chose the iPod, but i don't want to do any voice recording. I dunno, have a look at all the others.

Sandisk also and soniblu also record.
Voice recording takes barely any space.

Sansa might be a good option they allow for removable SD cards.

BUY A GOOD MICROPHONE. I dont belive the device will make much difference but a good microphone will make or break what your doing.

I don't think I'm going to get an iPod (doesn't fit all my reqs).

I'd also like to be able to use the mp3 player as an external drive (drag and drop functionality).

What are good microphones to get that won't break the bank?

I just shot a wedding this weekend where the videographer had the Sandisks in record mode using internal mikes placed on everyone. I listened to the audio, not bad.

iriver H10....i have a iriver H120 for lectures and its great

The iRiver H10 seems to have short battery life. All the reviews are pointing towards it for voice recording though. It seems to be the best of the pack in that regard, although some of the features really annoy me, like having to use WMP 10 to transfer files. I'd like something with drag and drop capabilities.

My Sandisk works just like a drive on my pc when connected.

Sansa's do the same except they also have a SD memory slot so you can change/add memory.

i have creative muvo tx and its ok quality. The only bad part is the horrible software used for file transfer. If you want drag and drop, look at sandisk
