The TeAm is now in 4th place (total credits) and 4th place (RAC). Apparently we have another new member but they're not showing up in the stats yet.

Yes - it takes time. It seems that the project runs out of WUs sometimes. Nothing on their message board either!

I have one hitting 192 hours right now, I had one go 155 but when it sent in it said it had errors. Now they just need to get us some more work units.

Look carefully at those work units that are running for 100+ hours. They might not get credit at all if they have "july" in the name. If so, just abort them before you waste any more time.

From the project news:
Accidentally a small number of workunits named 'july...' were released tonight. Please abort them, they are all erroneous. Sorry for that.

My longest running one is a "may" work unit and it's been running for 243 hours, I'm going to let it finish as it's only one machine that will lose points if it fails.

Well that sucks, the power was out for about an hour here, I lost well over 60 days worth of work.:disgust:

They really need to get a client going with check points.

Finally seem to be getting some work. Lets see how long it lasts. Most are running for only a second or two, but at least I grabbed my 500 limit.

They all seem to be a bunch of worthless work units, I'm really starting to frown on this project. :disgust:

Yes, me too. Just been crunching all night and only put on a few credits. I am sure I read somewhere they are suypposed to be doing some pre-processing that takes out those WU's that run for less than 3 seconds.

My main home PC is up to about 90 hours on a "june" job. There's a pretty hefty rain/thunder storm outside right now so I'm hoping we don't lose power before this job finishes.

The notes from the project devs say they are working on a client version that will use checkpoints so we don't have to worry about this problem in the future. Hopefully it will be ready soon.

Sorry guys I just deleted boinc off every one of my machines, they really got this project totaly screwed up. All these work units that run for about a second have wreaked havoc on my machines and not having check points has got to be the dumbest thing ever. I had one machine that had one work unit that ran for over 250 hours and then the power was out for over an hour and I lost that work unit.

Sorry to hear about your problems with the RCN. I had some of those too - and I think that is why the project is still "beta". I am not too happy about the project either, some WUs are way too long, other way too short. I'll follow the forums, but I will not add any more computers to the project ...

Did the same last night - reset RCN. I am still getting (and it seems Silverthorn is implying the same) funny times with Xtremlab after switching back. Boinc is very erratic in its response. Maybe I should install another copy of Boinc.

BTW, I know wjhat RAC stands for, but how long back does it go to give and average credit. It does not react like a total average.

I use BoincStats to check my stats and the RAC there is just under 3000 while other sites and my own calcs put it over 5000. Probably a bug.

The RAC goes as long back as it can, but the last week - 10 days has the most weight. So if your production jumps (up or down) then it takes some 10 - 14 days for the RAC to stabilize ... the function has a strong time corrections factor. The further back your WUs are the less impact they have. The RAC is most correct if you crunch the same project over long time. If you switch project (which have different efficiency (i.e. you get different amount of credits/time unit)) the the RAC gets more and more wrong... until everything is stable again ... and then you add a comp ...

Thanks Pertusbroder.

I copied over another BOINC installation and my machine is now behaving. I was really interested in RCN, but until it behaves better, I will run other stuff. Cannot afford a machines not producing!!!

I have not had any problems with RNC but I have set my BOINC to "no more work" because so many WUs run for a ½ - 1 minute and the reward is so small: 1 minute crunching, the uploading, downloading ... 10 - 15% of the CPU-time is for "house keeping" which is not good. Yes, I could increase my cache, but then other problem occur. And for seti, einstein, qmc and simap a 1 day cache is just great - considering the deadlines.

So, this BOINC project studies lines? For what purpose, sounds a little retarded to me, but I was always bad at math.
