I just bought the GTX 260 and the Antec 650W PSU, but im not sure if the two work together.

The 260 appears to need 2 6pin connectors, but the PSU only has 1 6pin and a 2pin.

Do i need to change my PSU?

What Antec 650W?

They have about 5 different ones currently available.

As far as I know all of those have at least a 6 pin and a 6+2 pin PCI-E connector.

Earthwatts, Neopower, Truepower New, Signature, Truepower Trio

All of those should have enough connectors for a GTX 260.

If the PSU you bought is modular...then you will probably need to plug in a PCI-E connector.

It is the Antec Earthwatts 650W.

There is a 6 pin and a 6+2 pin PCI-E connector. Can i use both 6 pin connectors, disregarding the 2 pin connector?

Yes that is what it is designed for. If your video card had 8pin+6pin then it also would be supported.

It says nothing about being modular, so i would assume it isnt. Also, the cables came connected to the PSU, so i dont think they are the wrong way around.

That's what modular / non-modular means. If the cables are hard connected to the PSU, then its non-modular. Thus the cable being backwards is not possible.

Have you tried consulting the manual.

Anyways, it probably is a PCI-E connector, as I can't even think of any other 6 pin power adapters.

Alright. Well, it is non modular, and the PCI adapter looks exactly the same as the one with PCI-E written on it. Also, i have consulted the manual but it doesnt say anything other than "Plug the PCI connector into the graphics card" or something similar.

So, would you recommend i just try it and see if it works?

Dude... yes it will work like everyone else has told you already.

6+2 pin is designed so the 2 pin can "break away" and voila, you have a 6 pin like you need. It isn't that hard.

Alright, well i did what you said, and booted for the first time...

No POST beeps at all, and no image on the screen. I just took out the graphics card and no beep. Took out the HDD and still no beep.

Any ideas as to whats going wrong?

No beeps is no good.... make sure you got the PC speaker hooked up right.

Is this an entirely new machine or just a PSU and graphics card upgrade with previous CPU/board/RAM? What CPU/board/RAM is it?

*edit* double check the 4pin/8pin connector for the CPU power. My friend forgot that once and it did what you mentioned, just sat there totally silent.

There is a 4 or 8 pin power plug on your motherboard. Make sure your PSU is plugged into it to give the motherboard power.

lol... happens to the best of us. Just don't forget to plug in the PCIe power connections to the vid card and turn the PC on, otherwise you'll go deaf by the screeching from the PC
