For what it's worth, I had bad experiences with two Antec TruePower 330's this weekend. The first one came in an Antec Plus660 case that I just got. I was putting a new system together. First time I powered the box on - loud ugly sound from the PSU and some smoke. I pulled out the power cord immediately. After I double checked that every in the system was put together correctly, I attached a different power supply and everything came up fine. I am planning to request an RMA Monday.
I was in CompUSA this afternoon and saw that they carried Antec power supplies. I went ahead and picked up another Antec TruePower 330 to replace the fried one so that I could deliver the system I was building. I figured that I would use the replacement for the RMA'd one in another system sometime.
When I got home, I placed the new power supply in a known good system, just to check it out - BAM - same loud ugly noise and smoke. I don't get it. What are the odds of getting two bad Antec TruePower 330's? This is in two seperate systems, both which work fine with other power supplies. Neither box should come close to pushing a 330 watt supply. The second system is an older 700 MHz P3 that was using a 250W supply for years. I'll make a trip to CompUSA to see what number three does.
I know there are lots of people using Antec TruePower supplies and are happy with them. I just haven't found one that works yet!
