I went to the No Kings protest in Atlanta today and I'd say about 10k people were there. It was peaceful with the only hint of conflict being the half dozen proud boys that marched through at some point.

I live in a somewhat conservative suburb around Houston. The No Kings protest here was threatened with violence by local conservatives. Strangely enough the protest was moved nearer to the local police station and the police were out in force. They stated they had a right to protest and no violence would be accepted from anyone.

From the pics I saw it seemed well attended and no reports of violence I’ve seen yet.

Apparently LAPD didn't get that memo.

They assaulted the peaceful demonstration in LA with rubber bullets and tear gas.

Can't wait for the mid-terms to come rolling in. I'd like to see how Trump is going to use his federal goon squads, his pardoned Militsia Proud Boys, his pardoned cop beating insurrectionists, his techie Musk rats and those state level right wing lackeys of his to threaten, conspire, intimidate, slander, cheat and disinform their way to legislative victories. Hmmm...I suppose they're doing a lot of that right now.

I really do hope this bitter vile taste of authoritarianism that Trump is leaving in people's mouths will last 'til then and that it will overcome the anti-democratic unconstitutional anti-Law and Order war the Republicans are going to perpetrate to keep the House and Senate in Trump's back pocket.

Democrats need to keep Trump in check because absolutely no one else will. And seeing as if the courts are simply being ignored by Trump and his stooges in the Republican controlled legislature it makes things that much more imperative for the Democrats to take the House and Senate back.

Let the impeachments, censures and indictments of El Taco, his crooked corrupted Supremes, his asswipe goombah cabinet creeps and House Squeaker Mikey Mouse Johnson commence the very minute both branches of gov't get yanked back into the world of Constitutionality and Law and Order.

I know the internet isn’t real life but I checked Facebook today for the first time in a long time, and it’s interesting which of my Trumper relatives have “switched sides” and which haven’t.

Even evil has standards I guess.

All the pics I’ve seen don’t look very impressive. The protests during trumps first term were impressive. Can we call it a bust?
Estimates today 5 million protestors showed up for No Kings across the country including 100,000 in Philadelphia where I attended

Impressive enough?

Five million is an impressive number. Do you think it will have any effect on policy?

If people took the attitude protests will change nothing the Civil Rights movement would not have been successful
That's sort of an answer.
It's been my experience that protests against policy tend to have a greater effect than protests against an individual. While I understand the angst people are feeling, Trump has at least a year and a half before any real action can be taken against him. Assuming the midterms turn out to be the expected bloodbath for the republican's, Trump will almost certainly be impeached and convicted at that time.

Based on history what makes you think that this could happen especially the second. Even if Dems take the House the Senate are cowards. If a Republican fails to convict, they know people like you would re-elect them anyway.

The policies people are protesting were well articulated at the protests not just anti-Trump

Good news for the protesters, trump and GOP policies are one and the same

Trump can't be re-elected without a change to the constitution, and that isn't going to happen.
If the mid terms don't give the democrats the votes to impeach him then he'll finish out his term and fade off into the sunset.

Impeachment would require several Republican votes in the Senate.
Why are you pretending that is an achievable thing?
Are you in favor of impeaching President Trump?

It's cute that you think rules that are written down are somehow self-enforcing. It's clear from the actions of the Trump administration, that they are happy to ignore all the rules and do what they want until someone tries to tell them otherwise.

Trump also couldn't remain president after losing the 2020 election according to the Constitution but that did not prevent him from attempting a coup.

I remember people saying that in November and December 2020, that he would leave peacefully. Turns out that was 100% wrong.

It appears that every town in the western end of NC large enough to have at least 2 stop lights had a No Kings protest on Saturday.

Hendersonville, population 15K

Hayesville, in deep red country, population 1K
