Which AV solution would you get for a Windows Server 2003 machine? Something from Symantec? McAfee? CA?

I've struggled with Symantec Antivirus 10, and the damn thing kept crashing and restarting the server. I got a refound, so now I'm in the market for a nice antivirus for this server.

Doesn't need to be a server-client AV, I already re-intalled Norton 2003 on every machine in the network.

Do you think NAV 2003 will work in Win2003?

You might look at McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.0i. I haven't had any reason to complain, except that it slows down desktop PCs quite a lot if you turn on all the bells and whistles. It's well-behaved on the servers, anyway. The downside is that the minimum buy-in is 5 units (hit the Small Biz store or call a rep).

eTrust 7 works great. Very low overhead, esp. compared to McAfee 8 (which we also run).

NAV is not licenses for server use.... Can you repro your SAV 10 issue? Do you have a dmp file from the event?

Zucarita9000,

Give this a looksee. I have found it to be an excellent solution, updates are fast and effortless to install. Its reporting facilities are fantastic as well. I found it to be a well polished application. Good luck..

Great, thanks. TrendMicro sure has lots of AV software!.

Just to clarify, I don't need a complicated server-client applications, I just want to protect my server. The rest of the clients have their own AV.

Our production environment at my work uses a mixture of 2000 & 2003 servers all with McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.0i. No problems.

We've got etrust on all our servers and have never had any problems with it tbh. As already mentioned, it sits there doing it's thing without taking up much resources. It's also easy to centrally manage in terms of updates, policies etc. Cheap aswell!
