So I finally got a copy of ArmA and I've got a few IRL friends who play, but I don't really know anyone else who plays. We'd like to get a big game of capture the island going sometime over the next couple weeks.

Anybody play / have any favorite servers?

edit: NEVERFUCKINGMIND

I installed it before I reformatted, and now it won't let me reinstall it, saying it's been activated too many times. SINCE WHEN IS ONCE TOO MANY FUCKING TIMES?!?!?! And it's on the same god damn computer. Shit like this is why games are pirated. The DRM only hurts people who buy the games.

FUCK DRM.

Canai, I own the game. The game can be activated 3 times. On the 4th time, you contact the website (Srocket or Morphicon or whoever), and they will give you another key in a reply email. This is to prevent owners of the game from giving their code to the entire world so they could mass copy it for everyone.

I play the game religiously, it sure beats the crap thats out there, as all of the games of today ether: A. Require no brain. B. Are extremely repetitive. C. Not worth the money you spend on it.

Xfire? - Name's "Coldkilla9".
In game, I'm "Victor".

I've also got a fast dedicated server.

KaRRiLLioN's ARMA Bootcamp
Dedicated. 12 mbps Connection. HP DL360G5 Dual-Core Xeon @ 3Gz, 2GB RAM.
Server IP: 209.193.133.66 Battleeye: Yes.

I am a registered admin with rights to add any modified warfare match type we like. I'd love a addon warfare battle

I just got ArmA off ebay for $0.99 =), and then a friend gave me a copy of the expansion Queen's Gambit...I haven't tried it out yet as I'm to addicted to Mass Effect right now...but how does everyone like this game? I've never played Operation Flashpoint but I heard it was a great tactical simulator back in the day.

These contact to activate DRMs are getting fucking stupid. I was intersted in picking up the compilation pack for this but now unless I find a crack for that drm crap it can stay on the shelf.

Like you said it builds on OF so many things are similar. One important thing you have to remember is this is more of a sim type FPS. If you like mindless shooting, CoD4 like gameplay this isn't for you. IMO the AI is just god-like. They always seem to know where you are and everyone is a sharpshooter with a AK from 200m out.

You don't need to activate ArmA if you buy the Atari version in the US. They have the ArmA Gold version that includes Queen's Gambit in the US now. With the 1.14 patch you no longer need the DVD in the drive to play.

This game's meat and potatoes is PVP online play. Do not under any circumstances play Arma's single player. If you MUST play it, do queen's gambit. The campaign is horrible. I'm one of Arma's biggest supporters, but when you bring up Single player campaigns I just puke. People like this game for its realism and immersion in huge maps that take hours to walk across, its maps are larger than any game has created to date (400 km across). You can fly, drive, boat, anything. The AI in this game are god, true, but if you play "Warfare" online the AI difficulty in the towns that you capture is reduced so they hardly have a brain but your AI are as sharp as a whisle and kick ass. If you can remember all of the radio commands (I have) it just increases how much fun you really can have.

If you want new weapons, sound effects, aircraft, UAV's, islands, character skins, vehicles, vehicle skins, boats, airplanes, Vtols, Ospreys, Bikes, Alien space craft, this website is where its at:
http://armedassault.info/

If you get sort of angry when you start out, it might be expected because of the difficulty of this game. You really do have to train yourself to: A. Look at the horizon for possible snipers. B. Not to die because mission makers can set quite long respawn times.

Also don't forget to download: 1.14 before you play.

Lucky I never uninstalled it even once.

Best part of Arma was the online co-op "Evolution" mod. You kill stuff, "liberate" towns to get more vehicles and weapons. There were some amazing times. I usually played engineer along with others and hauled a column of AI controlled ammo, fuel and repair trucks from the west, down south, then all the way back north.

Great fun until some co**sucking griefers came in and started base raping/FFing everyone. Some retards even decided to keep coming back to a server I regulared, driving all the way across the island to run over our entire team that took 5 minutes to fly there.

Don't bother with SP if you manage to get it to work. Poorly conceived and implemented campaign.

I never got attached to Evolution, perhaps because I played it back at Evo. 1.0. I may take a look at it in the future when I have time for a 700-1500 minute game

Any of you Arma players use xfire?
