Any decent free isp's?

I know this question has been asked before but it never seems to get enough responses. So.....are there any decent free isp's? My cousin has juno and it's not very reliable (it keeps booting him off) so he's looking to try another free isp that at least has a stable connection. He doesn't care about having a banner up while he's surfing, he just wants it to be a stable connection so that he doesn't have to reconnect 20 times a day.

So can anyone out there recommend a good free provider?

One nation online is pretty good and it doesn't have any banner ads. I think the url is www.1nol.com

netzero, if you disable the ads. Only prob is it auto-disconnects you every 6 hours.

Actually, every free ISP (except for Funcow) has been about the same speed as a payed ISP. That's just my experience. I still pay for an ISP ($7CAD/month, unlimited 56k), because I want everything that comes with a full ISP, plus I don't want advertisements, etc. $7 isn't much anyway.

Just curious why no one ever mentions Juno for good free ISP's? They claim to have the 2nd or 3rd highest number of users on the internet. I never used them so I don't know. Using Netzero right now.

I didn't realize that netzero was still in business. There have been so many free isp's going down lately that I thought for sure it was one of them. I'll have to add that to the list of potential providers. Thanks for the tip.

Maybe nobody mentions juno 'cause they're not entirely stable? I dunno. I haven't really used juno much as an internet provider but if other people are having the same problem that my cousin is having with them then it wouldn't be hard to figure out why they're not very highly recommended. If you keep getting booted then there's really no reason to speak highly of an isp.

I thought Juno only had free email, but charged people for internet access. This was months ago, so they could've easily changed since then and I hadn't noticed.

I have been using Lycos free ISP for six months now. I have been surpised how reliable it has been. It has been better than the Prodigy.net I used for years now.

It does put a banner on the screen but not to bad on a 19".


I was surprised that I could log on out here in the bonnies. I think it is one of the few free ISP that has good coverage.

1 Nation Online was the fastest and it had no banners. It doesn't work any more so I am using Netzero with some deleted files to eliminate the banner.

Does 1NOL work for anyone else????

nol doesnt offer free internet anymore. i currently use netzero. something's weird though. once i connect, it gets the user preferences, updates something, and the nztv thing just straight out disappears.

I use altvista if you have a local dialup give them a try. It's free after all.
