There's a HL2 mod that makes the game co-op.

um...

That's all I can think of! Co-op fps have gone downhill since Doom

Co-op is sadly missing from too many games. Either that or it's practically an afterthought... like GRAW.

SWAT 4 has good co-op play. For a bit older titles try No One Lives Forever 2, and Battlefield 1942.

i agree totally. ESPECIALLY ONLINE!! Like 2 people can play in what do they call it.. campaign mode in some games.. but like the single player type of completing stuff, but have 2 people logged into it and playing from 2 diff houses etc. That would be pretty cool.

Yeah, but I have given up on the hope... I mean, I still hope a little, but it is hopeless

I honestly think games would sell pretty well if they had some great co-op features. Sometimes when I am tired from work, the last thing I want to do is get my arse handed to me. The solution to play co-op so that my friend who owns me in games can be my hero.

Hey bud, what you are describing is redundant... That is what co-op is. When people talk about co-op it doesn't mean split screen... But, I suppose it can mean split screen, but that is mostly for consoles and older ones at that.

Serious Sam 2 has co-op... The problem is that the game is mindless (fun at times, for sure).

Swat 4 and Rainbow Six are good tactical shooters w/ co-op support. I think RB6 3/Raven Shield is one of the best since its more modern but not arcade and console-like as Lockdown seems to be.

Didn't they add online co-op with the new BF2 patch? Or is that the upcoming one? I have yet to see any servers running it (though I haven't loooked for it) but the 1.3 patch I thought was to have it in. I wanna try that out actually... The single player BF2 isn't half-bad, but having a larger bot limit would be nice with co-op. I'll have to check that out when I'm outta work today.

What's wrong with the GRAW co-op? It's just missing checkpoints. Other than that it's awesome. Two humans are better than two comps.

splinter cell chaos theory (beware of starforce, but i think they removed it now in the revisions), BF2 (new patched added co-op), SWAT 4, star wars battlefront 2 (not too sure though i only heard from a friend that it was co-op apparently)...thats all i remember for now.

I don't know WHY it hasn't been done. Imaine a game like FarCry, where someone is driving and another is gunning in one of the buggies or hummers...it would be so much more fun and the game could be a lot harder as well because of the tactics you could employ.

Situations where you can attack a big group of enemies, incite them to attack and chase you, only to run them into a trap where you have a buddy waiting to blow them away with something fun.

Charging at enemies where someone is providing some suppressing fire while another is using surgical precision and taking out key targets one by one...

Bots just don?t cut it.

Halo is pretty good proof of this, where your soldier teammates are pretty much worthless except for their bot aim (accurate, although not smart), but your ?invisible to the world? clone Master Chief coop teammate can really help you out (especially with the vehicles, not as accurate but knows when to keep shooting and shooting at targets well outside the range a dumb bot would fire at but could still hit if it fired)

Games like HL2 do a decent job in making the bot teammates less than worthless, being able to control them to some degree is nice (Halo 2 was decent as well, although you just need to make sure you give the bots weapons such as the sniper rifle, because they don?t miss and don?t run out of ammo).

But it just isn?t the same as if you had a real teammate to play with.

I?m hoping that with the growth of broadband, and single player shooters becoming monotonous along with all the shell of game multiplayer only types such as UT, CS, and BF2, game developers will finally recognize that there is an untapped niche in the game world that is co-op. You don?t have to invest the time required to get the most out of a multiplayer only game (the time it takes to get any good and past the learning curve, especially if you join in late after everyone already has become godly at it), and it isn?t the boring, ?been there, done that?, solo experience of single player.

After reading this thread, I got excited at the prospect of replaying HL2 single player campaign with a friend. But it seems like there is only one mod that MIGHT do that, the VenShira mod. But we can't seem to find it anywhere. Has anyone found a mod that lets you play the single player regular storyline coop?

Maybe the PC version is different, but I played the 360 version with my brother and the co-op campaign only has 4 levels. All the other co-op modes like co-op elimination, co-op territory, etc... all play identically. You just wait for all the enemies to come to you and then kill them.

I want to be able to play through the full single player campaign in co-op.
