Yeah it is a nice little device, can handle dough up with to ~1.5-1.8L of liquid depending on which type of dough. I like to make a sticky dough so I use the hook. I bought it for some money I got in wedding gift. I bake every weekend more or less and put my rolls in the freezer, so they can be microwaved every morning.

nice buns.

what is the advantage over our big bowl lift kitchenaid with that mixer?

my wife is a baker, recently made some divine focaccias.

Apparently the US version "only" has a 600W motor vs 1500W in Europe.

That one is belt driven, so I'm guess it is more repairable. No idea what the ratio is between motor and shaft.

I have KitchenAid Pro 600

It has 7 years of warranty, and can handle up to 5kg of dough at any speed.

Power: 1500 W/220-240 V, 600W/110-120V

KitchenAid only comes with 1 year warranty, which is horrible. Not to mention they tried to cheap out and used nylon gears for a period of time. bastards.

Got mine in 2006, I doubt I have used it more than a dozen times.

that has to do with US being 110VAC vs 220VAC in EU.

inside look on that mixer, not full tear down.

I bake every week and usually around 4.5kg dough, so it is perfect for my needs.

It's basically a beefier version of a mixer for serious home cooks. However, for most people, my recommendation is the Kitchenaid lift bowl because of the accessories...not just the hook attachments, but also the front motor attachments for things like shredding cheese, making pasta, etc.

Yes it depends on your usage. I don't have time for advanced cooking ATM, but I make a large volume of dough every week so that is why I like it.

That is for the Kitchenaid Classic series.

The Artisan Series is much better and the Pro Series is better still.

I have the Artisan Mini and it does everything I need it to do.

There is no reason to use nylon at all.

I miscalculated the water amount after soaking some grains over night and ended op with ~5.5kg (~12lb) of dough. A little bit dough of started to escape the bowl, so that is max

Our KA mixer is older, maybe 30 years. usa made, branded "heavy duty". Used at least weekly in this house. The belt drive/ worm gear setup looks strong.

I'm the cook in my household, but my wife is the baker. She makes a mean sourdough and other breads, and lots of great desserts (time permitting of course). One year, she made a yule log that was made to look like a branch in the ground with mushrooms growing out of it. We don't have many fancy gadgets: just the basics and a KitchenAid stand mixer.
