Any Poker Players Here?

Just wondering who here plays poker on a regular basis. Where do you play? What games/limits?

I play on PokerStars, mostly SNG's and a MTT here and there. I've been getting into PL Omaha ring games recently, and I'll play an occasional low-limit hold 'em heads-up match if I'm bored or need to blow off some steam.

Also, if anyone is interested in setting up a buddy system to analyze our games or just talk poker, drop me a PM.

My place was Pacific Poker... and I hit up Atlantic City once or twice. Might go again next month!

i play at a few local casino's near my house. usually play 3/6 or 4/8 hold em' or find a low limit stud game. also have a regular game every week with a few friends at my house or at another friends house with a $10-20 buy-in winner-take-all. im not a huge fan of online poker and in fact havent played it for a couple of years now because i always feel like im going to develop bad habits and also because i depend a lot of my game on reads and such. and i would much rather play heads up than a 4+ handed game, but beggars cant be choosers.

I generally play on Party Poker. Depending on what games are good I'll play from 15/30 limit to 30/60. If anyone is interested in getting into the online poker scene, I suggest they shoot me a PM. I get a bonus for each person I sign up. I'll be happy to reciprocate by offering advice on anything poker related.

Sorry bud. I personally know several people who have made small fortunes (6 figures) through poker. I play as a nice supplementary income. The game can be completely reduced quantatively into expected value analysis based on the tendencies of your opponents. If you are bright and have access to the right resources and are strongly motivated, you can become a succcessful poker player. Achieving long term winrates in the $200 per hour range is not difficult. Obviously poker is a very volatile game in the short term, but the short-term luck factor is evened out in the long run and overtaken by skill.

Indeed... there are plenty of "fish" in the sea.

It does take a lot of practice and study if you wanna be a shark. A lot of people get into the WSOP mentality thinking they can hit it big and retired. wrong! Its just like any other job.

Poker is zero sum, and negative expected value because of the casino rakes. So basically the odds are against you. However, there's a reason why some people are able to do it for a living; skill is very important to be successful in the long run.

It isn't -EV when you're the best player at the table. That isn't hard to do at typical low stakes online poker tables.

i've been playing for about half a year. started online and then played mostly real life weekly games (ring games, tourneys, mostly NL/texas holdem). i've studied up on poker a bit, reading a few books. during the winter months, getting games together is a little more difficult, so i've been playing online again.

i still consider myself a novice, but i really enjoy playing and learning about poker. there's a certain thrill when you trust your instincts in a real life game and you turn out to be correct.

I was talking about players as a whole. Hence I added the skill part.

Used to play it for fun when my room mate pulled in around $1200 (with a starting bank roll of $200). Stopped playing it when I got a job and lost a huge chunk of my free time. Have considered going back to play on low stakes tables (0.25/0.50)
