i just purchased a steel chieftec dragon case which is metallic blue. little did i know how easily the case scratches. i have some plastic matting underneath my desk area and laid the case down when i was installing the processor. now that i looked at the side that was facing down, there are small scratches in a bunch of areas. is there any easy way to get rid of the scratches beside repainting it. like would that car stuff that removes scratches work on this casing? or am i basically stuck with these scratches.

Are the scratches that noticeable? It's only a computer and you will probably get more scratches in the future.

I did the same thing with my chieftec I turned it around so you can't see the scratches. It is on the opposide side of the window anyways

3M automotive rubbing compound. Aint cheap at $10 for a little bottle, but nothing is better for taking out swirl marks.

Don't try and buff it out with wax. Its usually a waste of time. Use a good rubbing compund and follow the directions. THEN apply a protective layer of wax.

Waxing over scratches usually just works the wax in the scratch, and then won't buff out because its in the scratch below the paint surface (only applies to deeper scratches) and leave your scratch more noticeable. If it's a very fine scratch, you should be okay to try and just buff it out using wax, but better to do the job right the first time.

Be careful with the rubbing compound! If you are a bit too enthusiastic you could rub the paint off anyway. Follow the directions on the can religously.

Nix the rubbing compound, would likely be far too much "cut" for your needs.

I'd recommend trying Meguiars "High Tech Swirl Remover". This is a polishing compound mainly for use on clear coat auto finishes, but I have even used it on hard plastics with some success. If you can't find it at your normal auto parts stores, try an auto paint supply shop.
