Anybody going with the V10?

What a dissapointing year it's been for android power users. For me at least, this is the best of the bunch. I wish the SoC were stronger, but I realize I don't play demanding games on my phone (I top out at minecraft PE). Wireless charging support is something I'd like, but that is rumored to be something you can add later with an aftermarket charging sticker.

Anybody else hopping on this phone?

There's a promotion out where you can get:

- 200 GB SD card

- Extra battery, presumably the same as the battery it came with

- Charging cradle

You just need to purchase before November 15th.

Mine should be here any minute. Was bored with Samsungs offerings and despise most iphones and was interested in the camera aspects of this phone so I ordered one yesterday to replace my xperia z3v. Will still use my Note 4 as primary tho. Unless the lgv10 blows it away.

Looked good, but some reviews pointed out how huge it is with the extra screen. Frankly my note 4 is still a little big for some things so I didn't really want to go much bigger. Unless people love it, I'll probably wait for something else.

Just came in! Feels and looks great! Side by side with my Note 4, it is a tad taller, maybe an 8th of an inch. Fast charging it now. Fast charges the note 4 as well! I'll report back later after its set up to my liking!

I'm due to pick one up Friday. Plan is free through work, so sadly I'll be sticking with AT&T's model. Otherwise I'd buy direct from LG...

Looking at the performance gains in the S6 and the new iphone gives me a bit of hesistation.

But (with the promo) 264 GBs of storage, swappable battery, and durability...well...those aspects seem to make more sense in a phone. I can always OC my desktop higher if I want super duper performance.

The only thing about the performance that gives me pause is whether or not this "midrange" SoC will age as gracefully as the S4's snapdragon 600. But, it seems like it may, given the slow down in mobile phone advancement.

Loving it so far. Camera is best i've ever seen in a mobile. Screen is very good, not amoled good but very good nonetheless. CPU not as snappy as my Note 4 but works pretty damn fast. The build is phenomenal. Here's a drop test I saw: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGeWARv4Utc

I do have a few complaints tho:

1. The knock up (tap to wake the phone) has no on/off built-in. I had to download an app (Activity Launcher) and manually disable it.

2. Volume control. I knew I would have to get used to the controls on the back but, I use PowerAmp as my music player and when the screen is on I can long-press up or down and the volume goes up and down. But, when the screen is off I have to keep hitting up or down to control the volume. Annoying.

3. Speaker. I know, its a phone speaker, but this one sounds like shit.

Other than that it's a fantastic phone. I am keeping it out of a case as I feel this phone really doesn't need one. The audio, 32bit DAC, is great. Very little bloat apps.

first look at the battery size and battery life and i immediately said "nope."

I'm spoiled by a 9hr SOT on my current ascend mate 7, so i dont think i can go any less and having to recharge repeatedly.

Someone explain this second screen. It looks fairly ridiculous to me.

There's not a whole lot to explain, it's just a smaller screen above the main screen to the right of the front cameras. It has its own backlight so notifications, the clock, etc can be viewed without sucking up power using the main screen. You can put app shortcuts there which allows you to clean up your main screen too.

It's a gimmick, but it's a gimmick that might help battery life a bit.

I was thinking about returning my Note4 and getting this, but it came out just outside of my 14 day return period.

So I guess I'll have to be content with the LG G4 $200 rebate.

Question: If I buy a phone on VZW and add a new line, can I just swap the sims to change phones like you can with a GSM carrier?

Yes. I do it all the time.

Well then, I'm thinking I might see a Droid Turbo 2 in my future soon - you are supposedly able to trade in any phone, even with a broken screen, to get $300 credit.

I would suggest giving knock on knock off a spin for a week before disabling. Its honestly one of the best features of LG phones.

Nah, its a PITA. Walking and my jacket would tap and turn on the screen. I always turn this off on my phones.

Any way to get this thing unlocked with the promo? Or do I have to buy it from a carrier with a month to month contract and cancel it?

I checked that yesterday. They knock down the credit to $200 if the screen is broken or doesn't work. They ask 3 questions, can you turn the phone's power on and off, is the screen cracked or not working, and does the phone get hot or overheat. That's going off my shaky memory.

I had a friend who just got a v10 and is very excited by it. I considered it but thought getting a free g4 from vzn was better, i wont miss the cool fingerprint scanner. ☺
