I like it up there. I spent 2 days there..I really like it.
It's not exactly a small town, but has a small town feeling. LA is too big a city for me, I much prefer living in Seattle if I can choose.

I used to live in Seattle, now I live in an adjacent city. Property is expensive inside the city limits.

The weather is fairly moderate. Many natives will tell you it rains all the time, it's not true, we just say that to keep the Kalifornians away.

If you like outdoor activities there are many places to go to hike, ski, mountain climb, mountain bike, bicycle, kayak, canoe, run, jog, walk, rollerblade, fish, etc. The only thing I would say is lacking is a big beach. The only "beach" around is Alki Beach which is only about a mile long. However if you like to scuba dive head there and look for the sharks. If you would rather eat the seafood rather than it eating you drop by Salty's Restaurant next to the beach. The food there is pretty good.

The people are pretty laid back and easy going, save for the yuppy types. Look east across Lake Washington if you like yuppies. Depending on where you live you can find all kinds of people here. Seattle and the adjacent towns and cities are home to very rustic types all the way to the rich and famous. Bill Gates for instance lives in Medina just east of Seattle. Head a little further east and you will find cows and horses.

Many kinds of jobs are available. Not as many right now given the current state of the economy. I would venture to say that we are not much worse off than the rest of the country

Traffic is a growing concern here. It has gotten progressively worse over the years. Get a stereo for your car and bring a latte or three to sip during rush hour.

Overall I would say that I like it. It's not as much of a rat race here as it is living in other parts of the country.

Lastly, if you want to spot an out of towner look for anyone using or carrying an umbrella.

yep sorry russ the job market here is really good !!!

don't think so? then check out arkansas where to even get a decent job you go on a waiting list and to move up somebody has to die or retire lol

only reason i mention the weather ,my wife is from compton and it took her 3 years to stop ranting about the weather lol

so i guess i'm trying to put too much into that

but we go camping fishing hicking and sailing etc

greenlake is a nice place to rollerblade, golden gardens is a nice beach too besides alki point

northbend has good hicking and i have met people from all over here and it does feel small townish
unless you live in seattle i actually live in burien and i love it

i have only met a few people who didn't like it here

i love the weather it is much cooler than arkansas

no.1 reason why seattle sucks

in the mid 90's a migration of californians started to arrive in washington and settle mostly in seattle and it's suburbs

traffic got worst now in the new century it is one of the worst in the nation

drivers use to know how to drive like sane people but the influx of californians changed the driving habits of native seattlelites into road enraged motorists

the oddity that use to be seattle merge with those from california and created a new city that hardly resembles that of 10 years ago

i believe that other citizens from other states didn't affect seattle as much as californians......... i believe that every 1 of 5 person you see on the street in downtown were originally from california

i don't hate california........ i just hate the fact they chose seattle to give a black eye to

if you read the other replies you'll notice a lot of californians commenting on seattle......... please do not come to seattle....... we have enough californians.....

i blame 90 percent of the problems seattle been experiencing in the last 5 years to californians

I used to live in Seattle, I loved it. The weather was really only drizzly in the Winter, lots of sun through the Summer. I remember seeing a t-shirt when I lived there, it showed a bridge heading into Washington, and a sign next to it that said "Californians Please Use Right Lane." The right lane ended midway across, and it showed all the Californians crashing into the river.

You have the same highway but two times the traffic as 10 yrs ago. Analytically, the geography of this region, with it many lakes and waterways, makes this region very tough to implement any adaquate highway system, its not a big flat area where you can run alot of highways through like other cities. LA style highways is not possible here, need to rely on other means like mono-rail.

Because all the sucky Californians thought it was everyone ELSE in California that sucked, and thought they would be leaving that part of the populace behind.

New Half-Life Mod concept:

Located at the border between Oregon and Washington there is a grave conflict
Washington and Oregon have been infiltrated by rogue californians attempting to infest Seattle

Mission:

Destroy all targets and save Seattle from assimilation!

Don't listen to these people! Washington is the bunghole of the US, and Seattle is a rhoid.

LOL, what are you, a retard? I have not seen you say one sensible thing in any of your posts. Others back up their opinions with actual facts... can you believe that!?!? FACTS!! I wonder if you have ever even been to Seattle. No, I am not a huge fan of seattle, but I do love Washington. It is one the most beautiful places in the US. I mean, c'mon, I am a little skeptical that the "bunghole of the US" is the only place in the US where you can find desert, ocean, lakes, islands, mountains (even a volcano or two), and a friggin rainforest all in one state. Not to mention one of the biggest rivers in the US (the columbia) Yes, traffic does suck in Seattle, that is why I walk, bus, or bike everywhere. But come over to Spokane, or explore the coast and man, it will take your breath away.

Now go away and play with your other friends in that nice, padded white room.
