anybody overclocked their 9500pro ?

i guess everybody is overclocking their 9500pros if you still have them right ?

i just tried to do it, flashed the bios and all, but i can only get it to like 290.25 for the core and memory, any higher and the vpu recover kicks in or the system becomes unstable when i run 3dmark2003.

what speeds did you guys get ?

my 9500pro is the ati manufactured one with stock cooling..

My cousin has a 9500 pro, and although he's using the Omega drivers, he refuses to OC it because he says it runs VERY hot, I don't know if this is the case for all the made by ATI 9500 pros, but that certainly would be a reason for not being able to OC it very much, try a different cooling solution, like adding RAM sinks, or a different VPU cooler. :beer:

mine runs very hot too....its a connect 3d job...so same as the stock ati one. the 3.3ns infineon ram will only go to 303mhz as that is its rated speed.....ATI tool did have it over 330mhz but i put a stop to that

the core is the same as a 9700pros...and from what i gather both the 9500pro and 09700pro have the same stock coolers......ive had my 9500pro at 325 core and 300 mem for ages now and had no problems. i ve had to to 360 to see what 3d mark i get tho...went from 3500 to bout 4200

9500Pro cores are the same as 9700 cores, but one reason they might be 9500Pro cores is because they failed to make the speed grade required to get to Pro/non-pro 9700 speeds, which is why they might be limited in overclocking ability.

I tried didn't make much difference to me with the settings I use. So I just run it stock. It does run hot or my heatsink it came with is good. Burnt my finger checking how hot the heatsink got. It's a FIC with the gold colored heatsinks.

Using a CPU cooler on my 9500pro. USed to OC to 325 core/ 310 memory, now 375/320.

yeah, loads of people say the 9500pros have their bios locked so that u cannot overclock, i can use any overclocking tool with this and it will do it. I use omega drivers as they have a version of Rad linker in them that allows you to overclock, and coz its built in i would tink u will have less trouble with VPU recover...certainly i havent seen VPU recover strut its stuff for somethime now....will be getting a arctic cooling VGA silencer and at 20 quid u cannot fall off....same noise level twice as cool....i would expect 360mhz plus with a vga silencer

I think the core can go higher... but my case is too hot unfortunately
