Anybody rolls their own cigs?

Father of a friend of mine in his 70s rolls his own cigarettes and asked me to try one.

It was very good and I liked it.

I don't smoke, but could use this quality once a day or so...

Haw to start - machine, paper, tobacco? Amz has so many with mixed reviews.

Anyone into this? Where should I go for advice?

Used to. American Spirit is good, and fairly readily available. The papers it comes with aren't bad, but my preference is Club(no gum) or Rizla Blue. Machines are for noobs. Do it by hand, or don't bother.

I can understand and feel sad for someone in his 70's to be addicted to cigarettes. But what a horrible human being for trying to getting a younger person hooked. That father has known for 50 years that cigarettes are highly addictive, cause cancer and multiple debilitating and terminal diseases.

I haven't done that in decades, but I do remember smoking for the first time and the chick I lost my virginity to rolled a bunch of them and fed me coffee. Lets just say I thought I was going to die that night.

I rolled my own cigs for a year or so and used that to get off of buying cigarettes. Never used a machine, just my fingers. Basically made it inconvenient to smoke as I would have to roll one up every time I wanted to smoke. And had to carry a kit with me everywhere I went of papers, filters and loose tobacco. Driving somewhere, cant just pull a cigarette out of the pack, have to pull over and roll one up. Smoking became a pain in the ass and helped me to quit.

Why can you use that "quality" once a day? You can find better things to do. A cup of coffee, a twinkie, a quick fap. Anything but a cig - it's just dumb and nothing good comes from it.

Unless you're talking about someplace as polluted as Beijing this is utter nonsense. Smoking has far greater health risks than living in a major metropolitan area in the United States.

As he is talking about light use most large US cities have pollution levels equivalent to 1-4 cigarettes a day.

The little 3$ acrylic rollers work well for rolling a single cigarette, machines are for rolling a bunch at a time.

Good news! My wife and I got a pound of loose tobacco and a carton of 200 menthol filter tubes and use a $40 injector system to knock out a carton in 1/2 hour (2 machines). It was an exercise in Team building. My chance to thank her for all she did for me.

Bad news. She died of throat cancer 4 year ago Nov 1.

Nah, your message came across fine, you're just not the boss of me. I'm saying as a former smoker, I didn't have any plans to develop an addiction. And I didn't start out smoking multiple cigarettes every day either.

Most of us would try to help someone who is trying to jump off a tall bridge. Even if the jumper complained he only wanted advice on whether to jump head first or feet first.
