If anyone at E3 knows the answer to this, or can ask it of Sony, I want to know what the backward's compatibility of the PS3 will mean if the game requires a special controllers (such as DDR or Guitar Hero). Will they have a means for plugging in controllers that use the legacy interface instead of wireless/USB? I don't believe they've listed such connectors in the specs.

They have announced a few thousand games from PS1 and PS2 (forget how many). Don't think all will be compatible or what percentage.

It runs DVD's and CD's along with Blu-Ray, so I would assume that it has support for most of the PS1 ans PS2 games.

The OP is talking about controller support, not the game itself.

In other words "If Guitar Hero will play on the PS3, how the hell do I plug in my guitar controller?"

Adapter? usb to ps2 controller adapter? That would be my guess, some kind of aftermarket converter.

That was exactly my point, Cobolman, particularly where Guitar Hero is concerned (and GH2, when it comes out).

An adapter, as NuroMancer suggested, seems quite possible, provided the signaling can be properly duplicated.

Now that E3 is here, however, I was just curious if anyone knew anything for sure one way or another. After all, speculation is supposed to be over with, at this point.
