Anyone ever play Homeworld?

I just started a day or 2 ago...

I am starting to think that this game is too intense for me to handle..

Oh well, at least its a snazzy game..

I heard lot of good things about it but never tried it.

What's it like? All I know is it's a RTS like StarCraft but offer full 3D view....

I'm an avid StarCraft/WarCraft II/III player and would like to try it out.

Its really worth figuring out and playing


The learning curve is steep and takes a while to get used to but then its easy and FUN AS HELL.

LOL, you both summed up my situation in regards to the game....

Great game(s) that I never fininshed.... Anyone looking for it can find it at CompUSA or Electronic Boutique for cheap.... Still worthwhile even though they are several years old...

I replayed Cataclysm a couple months ago when the last one of these threads popped up. I really hate that last mission.

One of my favorite games of all time. I actually got sad really sad on the second (or third?) mission where you come back to find your home planet destroyed

The soundtrack is AMAZING!

BTW... you guys seen the screenshots for Homeworld 2? :Q

Great game, but I must agree, it is very, very difficult towards the end.

Yes, the game is a great play with a great soundtrack, but the learning curve is real steep on how to move your fleet around and position them in a 3 dimensional space. It's really different from SC, or WC3, obviously, and you may or may not like it.

Homeworld was and still is a quality game,

but why are you people having so many problems,

most of the missions are first timers and the others second time around,

finished catyclsm last week, hard but the last mission is way too short once you get the super acoyltes with ion beams,
squad of 20 of these will destroy everything in their path, ah power:|

I have Cataclysm, but haven't messed around with it for a while. I can beat the computer on the easy setting in skirmish, but that's about as far as I'd gotten. I never tried the single player missions.. You guys are making me think about reinstalling it..

love homeworld

still have it, and occassionally still play it, a classic as far as im concerned

its a tad difficult in the later levels, but once you really learn how to control your fleet its not hard at all

anyway, one of my favorite RTS of all time, definitely give it another shot

Another Vote for Homeworld! Great game, though i haven't played it in ages. (might have to dig it out and re-install it).

I also have cataclysm but never got around to finishing that though

one of my fav games man...it was super fun....loved it...arg now i want to play it again..single player campaign was very good ...it wasn't too hard to beat the game....

well, u get limited resources....and the way u do the formations and special moves for each craft at what stage of combat is important....u think a group of 12 scouts can't beat a frigate...ur wrong.....switch from sphere to delta (or some other formation that keeps the ships tight) repeatedly while pressing boost (learn ur hotkeys) can take out a frigate EASILY
