Yeah, guess I should've clarified better. I only say "donating" because that's how the company insists on categorizing it. It's just a way to duck taxes for both them and you. I'm not "donating" anything, I'm getting paid for it.

I guess the 400 dollar a month figure was stretching it a bit. I thought you could go 3 times a week, and I heard it paid roughly 30 bucks each time, so I was multiplying 30 times 4.3333333 in my head. It still sounds worth it.

I do donate blood a few times a year, too. However that's probably not going to happen if I'm selling my plasma too

I've sold plasma. It's not too bad if you don't mind needles. About an hour each time, and it's a decent way to make some quick cash. I wouldn't recommend it for longer than a month or two at a time, however, since your veins start looking like a junkie's, and it starts hurting more and more when they stick you.

I'm kind of out of it but are you guys talking about platelets?

I used to donate them for free to the red cross and local hospital coop ll the time back in the day...

Platelets are yet another thing you can donate.

That's blood in general. 2 months is the limit. I donate almost every 2 months because the Red Cross seems to make sure they have a donation on campus every 2 months. I get pressured into doing it each time even though half the time I have midterms during that week. Bleh. I end up missing a class here and there as a result of donations because I need more sleep.

I've done it, its quick, easy, painless, and i don't even like needles.

$20 the first time, $40 the second, and it pays cash.

Nope, plasma is the liquid that holds the red blood cells, white bloods cells, platelets and so on in suspension.

Basically, it's the stuff that gets turned into urine when your body's done with it.

I did that for a while, the only side efficts I ever ecpirenced was tingling lips and throat b/c I am allergic to shellfish. It has something to do with the stuff they use to keep your blood from coagulating.

I donated Plasma for years, initally I did it because I didn't have insurance and they give you a free physical, then they showed me the video about how it's used to help make medicine to save lives of burn victims and such.

The needle didn't bother me too often (I don't like needles) but depending on who stuck me, some nurses were excellent (didn't feel sh!t ever) some you'd think you were the first person they ever stuck. If you have good veins you're better off, I use to watch people with crappy ones get stuck and restuck until a good one was found I have big veins and my water level was always excellent, both make the process faster. I got like $30 & $25, I'd donate twice a week for humm about 3 years. I was in 8 times a month almost the entire 3 years.

only down side my right arm still has a very noticeable scar where they use to stick me, people love to ask me if I shoot up drugs. It's gotten somewhat better but I haven't donated since 2001 and it's still there don't think I can do sh!t about it really. And I donated with my left only a few times, maybe 5 in 3 years and there's still somewhat of a mark there. My right is bad though

donating plasma is a good thing, it helps save lives (Blah blah blah) and you get a little pocket cash, I use to loooooove going to get food right after I was done. My donation was always 903ml which is a lot of fluid. Made me really hungry afterwards
