Mine's working again. Plugged it in to charge and after it had enough juice (about 10 minutes) it started right back up.

My Zune 30 is frozen. What should I do?

Follow these steps:

1. Disconnect your Zune from USB and AC power sources.
2. Because the player is frozen, its battery will drain?this is good. Wait until the battery is empty and the screen goes black. If the battery was fully charged, this might take a couple of hours.
3. Wait until after noon GMT on January 1, 2009 (that's 7 a.m. Eastern or 4 a.m. Pacific time).
4. Connect your Zune to either a USB port on the back or your computer or to AC power using the Zune AC Adapter and let it charge.

Once the battery has sufficient power, the player should start normally. No other action is required?you can go back to using your Zune!

I'm also curious if anybody's didn't start back up. Letting the device loop for hours on end is probably pretty stressful on the CPU, so I was wondering if that may have killed some. Then again, I think the ARM chips used in these devices are pretty tough, so I'd assume most got through the incident fine.

jailbroken Touch + SSH + SFTP + winamp plugin = wifi syncin on an iPod Touch. You don't even have to use iTunes to do it. So it's a win win

FUCK THAT. It's an mp3 player not a linux install. I don't want to have to hack and buy additional accessories to get the added fuctionality that another product offers. I could get shortwave on my transistor radio if I soldered in a new receiver, modulator, etc but I wouldn't recommend it to someone that wants a shortwave radio.

Suite yourself, but I spent about 30 minutes fucking with mine and it can do a ton of shit Apple didn't mean it to. And my city has free wifi city wide so I can get internet radio where ever I go if I want it. Internet radio > FM. All the Touch needs is DiVX support and it would be an absolutely perfect PMP.

You know what's the problem with the iTouch? It's fucking impossible to use by touch (HAHA) while driving.

With the Zune, I simply reach over and push the REAL PHYSICAL HARDWARE "next" button, and jump to the next track, without having to take my eyes off the road.

Whereas with my iPhone, I have to pick it up, hit the home or screen buttons, slide to unlock, fumble trying to hit next track, look down at it in frustration, bounce off a curb @ 50mph, nail some douchbag who STOPPED at an off-ramp, get a ticket and total my truck.

No thanks, I'll keep my Zune. Anybody know where I can buy another Zune 30 for cheap?

My iPod connects to my head unit and I can control it with the buttons on my steering wheel, even easier than reaching over to press Zune buttons I don't believe any head units have Zune support though so you might be on to something if you don't have a decent deck or an iPod yeah a Touch or Iphone probably won't be the best idea to try and use while you drive.

I have a decent headunit, it's an older one before iPod support became a standard checkmark on the back of the box. It was over $350 new an Alpine preamp-only unit.

In anycase, I don't like iPods(iPhone and iTouch are different - they don't have that stupid clickwheel). I don't like the machine's UI, I don't like it's controls. And don't even start on that haxing garbage, I shouldn't have to void the warranty of a $350 device just to make it work the way it feels natural.
