Anyone play with long exposures?

I should have said - it was on AUTO - a P&S shot resting the camera on the deck rail. The noise is not really a problem for a DVD slide show - which is where it was used.

Anything longer than 1/30th of a second is considered a "long" exposure. The 1/30th rule is an old photographer's rule of thumb for the hand held limit.

My old 35mm film cameras had long exposure settings of "B" (Bulb) and actual seconds. "B" was an open shutter as long as you held the button or cable release. That had to be on a tripod.
