I went camping with my wife and a friend about two weeks ago. As our campfire died down, we found that twirling the smoldering end of my fire poking stick would make it glow and make all kinds of cool shapes in the darkness.
I took out my camera, set the exposure for 1-2 seconds and fired away. I was really surprised by how well some of the photos turned out, being that it was all hand held and set to an arbitrary exposure. It's really neat how a long exposure can reveal shapes and colors normally invisible to the human eye.
In any case, here are some of my favorites from that night:
Fire Painting I
Fire Painting II
Fire Painting III
Any others have interesting long exposure photos to share?
