I attached it to CAD where he had a story arc where the fiance gets pregnant and then has a miscarriage. The worst part was that basically two days after the miscarriage comic is was business as usual again with his characters. That's the whole thing that made it such a bad comic. He would introduce these plot devices into what was already a generic gamers comic formula (three gamers, two male, one female, eventually one male and female have a relationship) like them getting into a relationship, getting engaged, getting pregnant, etc but it really never changed anything in the comic about who the characters were or how they interacted or behaved. It was very all two-dimensional and eventually I just realized that it wasn't worth reading anymore. Every now and then I do an audit of all the comic links that I have and decide which ones to drop. I think Penny Arcade, PvPOnline and Sinfest are the only comics that I have consistently read for many years now.
Yeah. Even before then, I felt there was something...off about that comic. I remember seeing bits and pieces online about the guy being a major douche, and had stopped reading it before he did that.
I do the same thing. I have two webcomics bookmarks folders, one I check regularly, the other is just there so that I'll check them from time to time, and for ones that get old/boring or stop updating very often. Perry Bible Fellowship and VGCats for instance are still good but they get updated too infrequently.
I was actually in the process of going through both folders, as there's a bunch that I had bookmarked to see if they were any good or interesting.
My current list is:
Penny Arcade
XKCD
Hijinks Ensue
Amazing Superpowers
Questionable Content
Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal
PHD Comics
Dueling Analogs
Garfield Minus Garfield
Girls With Slingshots
Overcompensating
Wasted Talent
GU Comics
Brawl In The Family
Virtual Shackles
Digital Unrest
Oh yeah, 2P Start was good but it ended a few months ago.
