It doesn't feel like the series is about to end. The last couple episodes seem pretty disconnected, except that they all share the "Tony has no one to replace him" theme. Maybe the tragedy will be that Tony never gets around to insulating himself from the business when the Feds put the hammer down. Paulie goes down the emotional tubes, Chris goes to Hollywood, and Janice takes over by controlling Bobby. But, whatever, who knows where they're going with it.
It certainly looks like Phil is looking to make a major move - one of Tony's crew will go before too long. The real question is whether it will be Tony himself, but I doubt it - I can't imagine the show's creators would close the door on another season that firmly.
I'm pretty sure that this is the end. Vincent Chase doesn't seem like the kind of guy to fvck around with his baby and just extend the series. As for Phil, you're right. Maybe his taking out the new brooklyn boss is a harbinger of his getting his balls back. Maybe he'll pay back Tony for Tony B's killing of his cousin (?). Maybe Paulie will betray Tony because he fears getting Big "Pussified"
David Chase you mean....Vincent Chase is the character from Entourage. And David Chase is an idiot for the record.
I thought the first episode of this season was kinda 'meh' but thought the season still had potential. Now it's starting to suck. Some dude from NY who we don't even know gets whacked the past couple of weeks...are we supposed to care...do we know who he is? We get told Johnnie Sac has cancer and dies all in one episode...what was the point of him getting arrested/trial/etc since he was going to die anyways? Was a crappy way to kill off an important character....shoulda let him rot in prison. Bobby is going to jail for killing that guy (dna/hair on the shirt the dude ripped off him).
There is so much pointless crap that happens, it's very obvious they drug it out with the extra episodes instead of putting real content in. With everything that happened in the first part of season 6 and what's happened so far they could have consolidated it to 3 or 4 good episodes. Instead we get Tony in a coma for 3 weeks and way too much detail about Vito getting his freak on w a firefighter. In shows like The Wire just about every action that happens, ever word that is spoken has a point...an impact on something else and they do it fast enough to keep it interesting.
I'm glad I was able to get Comcast to give me HBO free for 6 months cause if I was paying for this I'd be really pissed.
