They are definitely taking their time building up the pressure, but each weeks makes it seem that any moment all hell is going to break lose

Im still not sure where they are going with the whole will Tony whack Paulie or not setup. I wonder if they are going to have Paulie act first before he gets taken out by Tony.

Also what eerie timing to have an asian with anger management problems that snaps on there.

I thought for sure Paulie was gonna get the "Big Pussy" treatment when they went fishing...

what did Paulie mean when he said "when its my turn I wonder if I will stand up" or something like that when he had the dream with "Big Pussy" cooking

Did I miss the egg reference before the "gangland shooting" from last night's episode?

What a weird coincidence that the Sopranos would happen to feature a mentally-ill, pathologically angry college-age Asian man. I doubt a network would have aired that this week.

It doesn't feel like the series is about to end. The last couple episodes seem pretty disconnected, except that they all share the "Tony has no one to replace him" theme. Maybe the tragedy will be that Tony never gets around to insulating himself from the business when the Feds put the hammer down. Paulie goes down the emotional tubes, Chris goes to Hollywood, and Janice takes over by controlling Bobby. But, whatever, who knows where they're going with it.

It certainly looks like Phil is looking to make a major move - one of Tony's crew will go before too long. The real question is whether it will be Tony himself, but I doubt it - I can't imagine the show's creators would close the door on another season that firmly.

I'm pretty sure that this is the end. David Chase doesn't seem like the kind of guy to fvck around with his baby and just extend the series. As for Phil, you're right. Maybe his taking out the new brooklyn boss is a harbinger of his getting his balls back. Maybe he'll pay back Tony for Tony B's killing of his cousin (?). Maybe Paulie will betray Tony because he fears getting Big "Pussified"

Last week ended with Phil sitting at the bar muttering somthing along the lines of "I'm not gonna be a stooge anymore" so I wasn't shocked at the hit which ended last nights episode... I'm glad too because introducing a new main charecter at this point in the seris (Doc) wasn't working for me.

Also I think Tony did almost kill Paulie on the boat ... notice him eye-balling first the axe & then the bait knife?

David Chase you mean....Vincent Chase is the character from Entourage. And David Chase is an idiot for the record.

I thought the first episode of this season was kinda 'meh' but thought the season still had potential. Now it's starting to suck. Some dude from NY who we don't even know gets whacked the past couple of weeks...are we supposed to care...do we know who he is? We get told Johnnie Sac has cancer and dies all in one episode...what was the point of him getting arrested/trial/etc since he was going to die anyways? Was a crappy way to kill off an important character....shoulda let him rot in prison. Bobby is going to jail for killing that guy (dna/hair on the shirt the dude ripped off him).

There is so much pointless crap that happens, it's very obvious they drug it out with the extra episodes instead of putting real content in. With everything that happened in the first part of season 6 and what's happened so far they could have consolidated it to 3 or 4 good episodes. Instead we get Tony in a coma for 3 weeks and way too much detail about Vito getting his freak on w a firefighter. In shows like The Wire just about every action that happens, ever word that is spoken has a point...an impact on something else and they do it fast enough to keep it interesting.

I'm glad I was able to get Comcast to give me HBO free for 6 months cause if I was paying for this I'd be really pissed.

I disagree. While some of the content may seem a bit rushed, at the end of the day we are getting much better picture of how ruthless Tony can be. Yes, he has mellowed out, but he is still primarily concerned with protecting himself and his family. Even if that means whacking Pauly out fear that he could become a rat down the line. Tony is also becoming a bit more paranoid about the people he is around. If you notice they are constantly joking around while Tony sits in the background, observing them, all while seeming increasingly depressed about his personal life/future career. Factor all of these things and one of two things will happen - His inability to whack threats from within (Christopher and Pauly) will either lead to his demise, or his increased paranoia could make him do something stupid without covering his tracks, leading to his death/arrest. I can't wait to see which way the show heads.

I made the mistake because entourage comes on right afterwards. I disliked a few of the episodes at the beginning of season 6, but liked the latter half. How can you say David Chase is an idiot? He created the SOPRANOS, MAN!!!!!!! He's the best writer on TV!!!@!#!@#!!#!@#!@#!@#!@32q

So far Season 6 is a huge letdown, both the first half and the half that is airing now.

I don't see it that way at all - it seems to me that most of the complaints about it relate to people wanting it to be an action movie. There has been some great writing this season. I can empathize with the idea of wanting more momentous events, given that this is the final season, but I do think it's been pretty good.

I think that Tony is gonna get whacked by the end of the season. You can see that they've been slowly isolating him from the rest of the "family" in each episode, by having him piss off someone in each episode.

My problem is that nothing is happening. When you look at what has changed since the beginning of the episode to the end, it's really not that much. We spent/wasted maybe 20 minutes watching Junior get his hustle on at the funny farm to what end? A broken arm? What does that do to advance the overall story? Maybe it will be relevant in a future episode, probably not though.

My whole problem with David Chase started several years ago when I watch an interview w him where he said he wanted the Sopranos episodes to be completely self contained with no plot lines really carrying over from episode to episode. IMHO, that sucks. I want the huge arching story lines of shows like The Wire where just about everything impacts something episodes or sometimes seasons down the road. I like it when the constant viewer is rewarded by catching the little things someone who watches it occasionally wouldn't notice. Writing each episode as a standalone is more like a sitcom with guns.

Another really dull episode. They must be building up to one heck of climax if the length of the runway is any indication.

Anybody else think this series might just end with a whimper? (Maybe Vito's crazy goth kid will go postal and shoot Tony.)

Well, it was filmed months ago and at great expense so to change it would have been extremely difficult. I wonder if they're going anywhere with that storyline or if it's just another of those that goes nowhere. That episode had kind of a 'Cuckoo's Nest' feel to it.

I thought this week's episode was kind of meh. All of a sudden Tony has a big gambling problem? Come on...
