Anyoen familiar with the two brands that can make a recommendation on which one to get?

I use Sonicare. I find it very effective and pleasurable. Cleans great and leaves a nice numb feel to your teeth.

I read that the Sonicare is 75% more effective than flossing. Is that true?

Anyway I use the Crest Spinbrush because I'm a poor college boy Works better than a normal Toothbrush, but that's about it.

How much better? I've wondered about getting one of those for a while...

The Interplak is a mechanical marvel. See the video demo on that page. Much more effective than a circular brush head spinning in a circle.

I owned one about 15 years ago. It lasted a couple years, then the rod which protrudes from the unit into the brush head came loose. I contacted Interplak and bitched about it. Despite being one year out of warranty, they sent me a replacement... NO CHARGE! Cool eh? But that one failed in exactly the same way about a year later!

There is no doubt in my mind that their brush action is the best. If I ever buy another electric toothbrush I'll try them again. They got the right idea, but the execution may be lacking. Maybe they got the bugs out by now. Buy it and let me know!

Edit: Oh look at this. They make both kinds now And I noticed that demo doesn't show the brush action, but it does show that they aren't using the same type of drive my old one had. No rod sticking out of the end at all.

I'm happy with the braun except the replacement brushes, $10. What a rip - thats where they get you.

My dad got me an Oral-B 3D Excel recently and IMHO it's definetly worth the 50 bucks he paid for it. I've used: ancient braun electric toothbrush, Inter-Plak, and manual brushing. The Oral-B is by FAR the best of any of the toothbrushes I have used. The small head combined with the motion is excellent at cleaning everywhere, even the hard to reach places. Also, it has a timer built-in do you know you've brushed for 2 mins as recommended by dentists, a nifty feature.

I highly recommend this toothbrush, the first time I tried it, I couldn't believe how much better it was compared to the other electrics and the manual.

i use an oral b 3d my 3rd oral b since i used to share the base with sibling beware, its not exactly water proof, liquid seeps down into the motor casing and stuff, crap gets into the gears, hella nasty. took apart one by prying it out through the bottom, nastiest thing i've seen in a while flushed out gears and it worked fine for quite a while longer though.

I have been using the Sonicare for 3 years and I will not go back to manual brushing. If you're gonna get the Sonicare then try I would suggest EBAY for best prices.

I use a braun, for about 1.5 years now. Its great. Good battery life (my wife and I share a charging station). Seems to clean my teeth well. ONly draw back is the replacement brushes are a little steep.

I use the Braun Oral 3D

Sooooo good compared to conventional toothbrush. My teeth feel clean and squeaky. But I agree that the replacement heads are hella expensive

Hmm, but you can get 3 for $15 - $18. I always buy them in bulk...

My dentist always recommends the braun, actually any dentist I have ever gone to. And it gets my teeth a lot cleaner.

Sonicare wouldn't clean junk between your teeth. I use sonicare and I floss.

I've been using Sonicare for about a year and am really satisfied with it. I've noticed that my teeth is whiter.

had a braun 3d for about 15 months. Satisfied. Charge it once every 10 days. can get replacement heads at costco 6 for $24. used a sonicare, about the same thing. Either way you're fine, both are much better than a manual toothbrush. Just get the one that is least expensive. I find the braun easier to hold.
